Green River Police Department reports for Dec. 9
At 10:31 a.m., officers responded to the area of E Teton Boulevard for a report of a larceny. Officers met with an individual who reported a possible theft by a family member. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 12:31 p.m., officers responded to a report of trespassing. Officers met with a manager at Smith’s who requested to have an individual issued a trespass warning for a shoplifting incident that occurred there on Dec. 8. Officers contacted the individual, issued the trespass order, and completed a report of the incident.
At 1 p.m., officers responded to the GRHS a report of a student in possession of a vaping device. Officers met with the student and staff, gathered information, and subsequently issued the juvenile, age 14, of Green River, a citation for alleged possession of tobacco product by a minor. Officers notified a parent/guardian and completed a report of the incident.
At 2:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with an individual who reported the altercation with another individual who had already left the residence. Officers gathered information, attempted to contact the other individual, and completed a report of the incident.
At 4:58 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of Taco Bell for a report of a two-vehicle collision. It was reported the first vehicle was parked in the parking space facing east and a second vehicle, which was parked and unoccupied, was parked in a space facing west across the parking area. When the first vehicle reversed out of their space, the rear passenger side of the first vehicle struck the rear of the second vehicle. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 10:07 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Saratoga Drive on a vehicle with no tail lights. Officers met with the driver, who was found to be in violation of driver’s license conditions. Officers contacted a parent/guardian, gathered information, and issued the driver, a juvenile, age 15, of Green River, a citation for alleged no valid driver’s license and/or violation of driver’s license conditions.
Dec. 10
At 12:31 a.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance. Officers met with individuals involved in an altercation, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.
At 3:56 a.m., officers responded to a report of an assault. Officers met with an individual who reported a physical altercation with a subject who had left the residence. Officers patrolled the area, and located a male subject, matching the description. Officers initiated a field contact with the male subject. Officers gathered information and placed Skyler Ewart, of Green River, under arrest for alleged domestic battery - first offense, two counts and strangulation of household member - pressure on neck or throat. Officers transported Ewart to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.
At 12:16 p.m., officers responded to a crash that was suspected of taking place at Green River High School the day before. Officers met with an individual who reported finding damage to their vehicle and was not sure when and where it happened. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 2:34 p.m., officers responded to a report of a dog bite. Officers impounded the dog and issued the owner, Justine Brady, of Green River, a citation for alleged vicious animal. Report to follow.
At 4:14 p.m., officers responded to the Sweetwater Memorial Hospital for a report of an individual with a gunshot wound to the hand. Officers met with the individuals who reported a firearm had been unintentionally fired, causing injury to another individual’s hand and a puppy the individual had been holding at the time the firearm went off. Animal Control Officers responded to the residence on Colorado Drive and provided transportation for the puppy to the Vet Hospital where they released the puppy to the veterinarian. Officers gathered information and turned the case over to GRPD Detectives. Report to follow.
At 5:23 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with individuals who were involved in a verbal disturbance. Neither party wanted to vacate the property. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 6:07 p.m., officers responded back to a prior report of domestic violence. Officers met with an individual, who had left the residence, and had been involved in the prior dispute. It was reported the other individual threatened them with a firearm. Officers met with the other party, located a firearm, gathered information, seized the firearm, and completed a report of the incident.
At 7:55 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of Castle Rock Vet for a report of a single-vehicle collision. It was reported the vehicle was reversing out of a parking space facing west when the rear of the vehicle struck a business sign. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 8:48 p.m., officers responded to the area of Schultz Street in reference to a subject that had been struck by a motor vehicle during a disturbance. Officers met with an individual who reported an altercation with another individual in the parking lot of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, then received a ride home from a family member and while getting out of the vehicle the driver reversed and hit them with the door, knocking them over. Officers met with the other involved party in the altercation who reported the incident started off as horseplay and at some point turned aggressive, then the other individual left with a family member. Officers met with the driver of the vehicle who reported the recent events of the evening and that they had unintentionally knocked over the individual with the door of their vehicle, while leaving. EMS arrived to evaluate but the individual refused treatment. No transports were made. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
Dec. 11
At 10:45 a.m., officers responded to N 2nd E Street for a report of a two-vehicle collision. It was reported one vehicle was parked facing east and a second vehicle, which was parked and unoccupied, was parked along the north side of the roadway. When the first vehicle reversed out of the parking space the rear of the vehicle struck the driver’s side of the second vehicle. Officers gathered information and issued the driver of the first vehicle, John Anastos, of Green River, citations for alleged inattentive driving with a crash and failure to maintain liability coverage - first offense.
At 8:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers arrived on scene and heard yelling and screaming coming from inside the residence. Officers entered the residence and met with the individuals involved in a physical altercation. Officers separated the subjects, gathered information, and subsequently placed Kathrine Franklin, of Green River, under arrest for alleged domestic battery. Officers transported Franklin to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.
At 8:39 p.m., officers responded to a report of found property. Officers met with an individual who located a bag containing prescription medication laying in the Walmart parking lot. Officers collected the medications, attempted to make contact with the owner, contacted the RSPD, and completed a report of the incident.
Dec. 12
At 6:52 a.m., officers responded to the area of Cumorah Way for a report of a disturbance. Officers met with the individuals who were involved in a verbal dispute. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 1:20 p.m., officers responded to Green River High School for an emergency safety drill. The drill was completed successfully.
At 3:50 p.m., officers responded to the area of mile marker 89, I-80 eastbound, in reference to reports of a single-vehicle collision. It was reported the driver attempted to exit at mile marker 89, but the vehicle slid and remained on Interstate 80 eastbound. As the vehicle crossed the bridge by mile marker 89.5, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to the snow and ice and hit the guardrails on both sides of the roadway. Officers gathered information, issued a citation to Jordan Barnett, of Green River, for alleged expired temporary license permit/improper registration, and completed a report of the incident.
At 5:53 p.m., officers responded to the area of Shoshone Avenue in reference to a single-vehicle collision. It was reported the vehicle slid off the roadway approximately 100 meters past exit 85 on I-80. The driver advised when the vehicle left the roadway they were unable to stop and slid into the median, hitting the guardrail on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The driver advised they came into town to report the incident. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
Dec. 13
At 11:13 a.m., officers responded to132 E Flaming Gorge Way to a report of a larceny. Officers met with the owner of the Bullion and Coins shop who reported two individuals entered the shop and were acting suspicious and attempted to conceal an item. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 4:23 p.m., officers responded to a report of an agency assist for a collision in the tunnels on I-80. Incident turned over to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
At 8:17 p.m., officers responded to the Super 8 Motel in reference to a disturbance. Officers met with the motel manager who reported they had received noise complaints about a tenant. Officers met with the individual, advised of the complaint, and completed a report of the incident.
Dec. 14
At 3:24 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Uinta Drive and Riverview Drive for a report of a two-vehicle collision. It was reported one vehicle was traveling south on Uinta and a second vehicle was stopped at the traffic signal on Astle Avenue facing west waiting for the light to turn green. The driver of the second vehicle proceeded into the intersection west towards Riverview Drive and the first vehicle proceeded into the intersection as well. The first vehicle crashed into the passenger side of the second vehicle. Officers gathered information, issued the driver of the first vehicle, Erling Kroupa, of Green River, a citation for alleged obedience to traffic control device violation, and completed a report of the incident.
At 8:44 p.m., officers responded to the driving alley of Green River High School for a two-vehicle collision. It was reported one vehicle was exiting the parking lot and turned right, traveling south down the one-way, as a second vehicle was entering the parking lot and traveling north down the one-way. The two vehicles collided head on. Officers gathered information, issued citations for alleged inattentive driving with a crash and failure to provide proof of liability insurance to the driver of the first vehicle, Michael Bryson, of Rock Springs, and completed a report of the incident.
Dec. 15
At 9:27 a.m., officers responded to a report of a crash that occurred on I-80 eastbound. Officers observed the vehicle which had lost control and hit the concrete barrier in the median. The vehicle then went across the interstate and struck the guardrail on the outside shoulder of the roadway, causing the cargo trailer the vehicle was pulling to jack knife. Officers issued the driver, Timothy Brazil, 63, of Shoshone, a citation for alleged speed too fast for conditions. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 9:47 a.m., officers responded to a report of fraud. Officers met with the reporting party who advised they had paid a deposit for work to be done at their home, but the work was never started and the business will not return messages. Officers gathered the information from the reporting party and completed a report of the incident. This case is still under investigation.
At 9:55 a.m., officers responded to a report of a crash that had occurred on I-80 eastbound. Officers observed a vehicle which had crashed into a cargo trailer that had been involved in a separate crash. Officers issued the driver, Demont Oglesby, 46, of Las Vegas, Nevada, a citation for alleged speed too fast for conditions. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 10:01 a.m., while investigating another crash on I-80 eastbound, officers observed a WYDOT plow crash into one of the previously crashed vehicles. The plow was attempting to pass by the crash through a small gap in the roadway when it struck the other vehicle. Officers observed the damage to the vehicle and determined the plow sustained no damage. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 4:29 p.m., officers responded to a report of suspicious mail. Officers met with the reporting party who advised they had received a package in the mail addressed to them that they did not order. Officers collected the package and completed a report of the incident.
At 8:01 p.m., officers responded to a report of theft at the Hitching Post Restaurant. The reporting party advised that someone had called in to order food and left a credit card number that did not work and then never picked up the food. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 8:05 p.m., officers responded to a report of a crash. Officers met with the reporting party who advised as they were backing into a parking spot, they hit a small dead tree, causing it to break and fall onto another vehicle. Officers observed minimal damage to the second vehicle and completed a report of the incident.
Dec. 16
At 7:39 a.m., officers responded to 905 Bridger Drive (Smith’s) for the report of a possible shoplifting and trespassing. Officers met with the individual who was found to have concealed items in a purse. Officers, at the request of the store manager, issued a trespass warning, escorted them out of the store, and completed a report of the incident.
At 9:59 a.m., officers responded to 905 Bridger Drive (Smith’s) for the report of a shoplifting. Officers met with the store manager who identified the individual who had stolen items. Officers located the stolen property, issued John Bingham, 34, of Green River, a citation for alleged shoplifting and a trespass warning, and escorted him out of the store. Officers completed a report of the incident.
