Green River Police Department reports for Oct. 21

At 9:58 a.m., officers responded to a report of vandalism at the Embassy Tavern. Officers met with an employee of the Star Bus Transit who reported finding graffiti on the inside of one of the bus shelters. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 12:18 p.m., officers responded to a report of fraud. Officers met with the owner of FGHD who reported a fraudulent transaction by a customer. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 12:34 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on East Flaming Gorge Way. It was reported one vehicle was backing out of a parking space traveling east, when the rear bumper of the vehicle struck the rear bumper of the second vehicle, which was parked and unoccupied facing south. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 12:37 p.m., officers responded to a report of a citizen assist. Officers met with an individual who reported they had received a toll bill from Texas, but had not been through Texas. After looking into the incident, it was determined it was not their vehicle but a vehicle with the same plate number. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 12:49 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual with an arrest and hold order on Commerce Drive. Officers met with the individual, confirmed the warrant, and placed Shawnee May, of Rock Springs, under arrest. Officers transported May to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

At 4:12 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual with a pocket knife that was threatening another individual at the Embassy Tavern. Officers located the individual who was causing a disturbance, and subsequently placed Gary Welfl, of Green River, under arrest for alleged public intoxication. Officers transported Welfl to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

At 8:31 p.m., officers were conducting a walk through at the Recreation Center when they were advised of a disturbance between two parents in the gym. Officers met with individuals who reported an incident involving their kids. Officers separated the parties, gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 9:23 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with an individual that was involved in a prior verbal dispute. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

Oct. 22

At 12:52 a.m., officers responded to a report of a juvenile runaway. Officers met with the juvenile, who was transported home, and met with the juvenile’s parents or guardians. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 5:33 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with an individual who reported prior domestic altercations. Officers made contact with the other individual, who was arrested per an outstanding warrant. Officers transported Jacob Kunkle, of Rock Springs, to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 7:48 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance on Trona Drive. Officers met with an individual who reported that an individual had solicited at their residence claiming they could save them money on their TV bill and asked to see their current bill. The individual could not provide proof of employment and was asked to leave. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 7:58 p.m., officers responded to a report of threats or harassment. Officers met with an individual who reported receiving threatening text messages from their ex. Officers advised on the process of trespassing and protection orders. Officers attempted to make contact with the other party, but were unsuccessful. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 11:37 p.m., officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision. It was reported one vehicle was negotiating the left-hand turn from Uinta Drive to E 2nd S Street when the driver lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle struck the right hand curb, traveled over the sidewalk and came to rest in the ditch. Officers met with the driver of the vehicle, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident. 

Oct. 23

At 8:56 a.m., officers responded to a report of drugs. Officers met with an individual who turned over paraphernalia found in their child’s room. Officers met with the individual and issued a citation for alleged possession of drug paraphernalia to the juvenile, 17, of Green River. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 5:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of trespassing at Clearview Bowling. Officers met with an individual previously trespassed from the property, advised of the trespass order, escorted the individual from the property, and completed a report of the incident.

Oct. 24

At 7:33 a.m., officers responded to a report of loose livestock on Wild Horse Canyon Road. Officers observed wild horses in the area and advised the individual they were wild horses.

At 10:06 a.m., officers observed an abandoned bicycle and booked it in for safekeeping. Officers later released the bike to the owner and completed a report of the incident.

At 10:14 a.m., officers responded to a report of vandalism at Edgewater Park. Officers met with an individual who reported a vehicle that had been egged. Officers made contact with the owner of the vehicle, gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 3:34 p.m., officers responded to a report of larceny at Jensen Street. Officers met with an individual who reported paying funds for an item they never received. Officers attempted to make contact with the seller but were unsuccessful. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident. 

At 9:43 p.m., officers responded to a report of an intoxicated individual at Penny’s Diner. Officers met with the individual and subsequently issued a citation for alleged public intoxication to Thomas Potton, of Green River.  Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

Oct. 25

At 5:06 p.m., officers along with the GRFD responded to a report of a structure fire on West Teton Boulevard. All occupants were safely removed from the apartment complex, and the fire was extinguished by the Green River Fire Department. The GRFD reported that the cause of the fire appeared to be caused by a malfunctioning vent fan located in the upstairs apartment bathroom. EMS responded but no transports were made. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident. 

At 9:52 a.m., officers responded to a report of fraud on Collier Circle. Officers met with an individual who reported a possible scam. It was reported the individual purchased an insurance policy and wanted the transaction verified. Officers spoke to the seller and verified it was a legitimate transaction.

At 10:42 a.m., officers responded to a possible exploitation of a vulnerable adult on West Railroad Avenue. It was reported an individual sent funds to an unknown individual in order to receive a grant. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 12:27 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision at Green River High School. Officers met with an individual who reported finding damage to their vehicle that had been parked and unoccupied in the parking lot. Officers gathered information and attempted to locate the other involved vehicle.

At 7:35 p.m., officers responded to a report of a deer that had been hit by a vehicle at Lincoln Middle School. Officers located a deer that was deceased but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Oct. 26

At 6:46 a.m., officers responded to a report of fraud at Alamosa Circle. Officers met with an individual who reported having a corporation filed in the state of Wyoming, using their address. According to the Wyoming Secretary of State Office, it was determined the corporation was filed legitimately, and the individual was advised to seek civil actions against the corporation. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 7:08 a.m., officers responded to a report of a possible fire on Bridger Drive. Officers observed a plastic flower pot that had been melted and was smoking. The GRFD responded and confirmed there was not a fire danger. Officers made contact with the resident and neighbors, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

At 4:33 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Astle Avenue and Bramwell Street and ascertained the driver had an outstanding warrant. Officers confirmed the warrant and placed Betty Callahan, of Green River, under arrest per the active warrant. Officers transported Callahan to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

At 5 p.m., officers responded to a report of a scam on Windriver Drive. Officers met with an individual who reported receiving text messages threatening blackmail. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 5:14 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Uinta Drive and issued the driver, Preston Peterson, of Green River, a citation for alleged valid certificate of title, registration, and license plates violation.

Oct. 27

At 4:44 p.m., officers responded to a report of property damage on South Dakota Street. Officers met with an individual who reported damages to a residence. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 6:08 p.m., officers responded to a report of a juvenile individual being in possession of a controlled substance. Officers located suspected marijuana and paraphernalia. Officers met with the juvenile and issued a citation for alleged unlawful possession - plant form < 3 oz to the juvenile, 17, of Green River. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

Oct. 28

At 3:57 a.m., officers responded to a report of a fight in progress on Medicine Bow Drive. Officers located several individuals in the area, two of which were fleeing the scene. Officers met with one of the individuals, gathered information, attempted to make contact with the other two involved individuals, and completed a report of the incident.

At 2:54 p.m., officers responded to a report of found drugs on S Riverbend Drive. Officers met with an individual who reported they found suspected drugs and paraphernalia outside by their driveway. Officers collected the suspected drugs and paraphernalia, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

At 10:37 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Uinta Drive and issued the driver, Ana Salas, of Green River, a citation for alleged speeding.

At 11:37 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance with an individual possibly having a firearm at The Brewery. While officers were enroute they were informed the subject had left. Officers searched the area and were unable to locate the subject. Officers met with several individuals, gathered information and completed a report of the incident, which is still under investigation.

Oct. 29

At 4:56 a.m., officers responded to a report of an individual that was sitting by a pole, believed to be intoxicated on N 5th W Street. Officers located the individual and made contact. Officers subsequently issued citations and placed Thomas Patton, of Green River, under arrest for alleged open container and public intoxication. Officers transported Patton to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

At 4:37 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with the individuals involved in a verbal confrontation. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 6:13 p.m., officers responded to a report of a larceny on Greasewood Street. Officers met with an individual who reported items missing from their yard. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 7:35 p.m., officers responded to a REDDI report. Officers located the vehicle on East Flaming Gorge Way and conducted a traffic stop. Officers met with the occupants of the vehicle and observed an open container. Officers gathered information and subsequently issued a citation for alleged open container to the passenger, Alissa Ekdahl, of Green River and issued a citation to the driver for alleged DWUI - incapable of safely operating a motor vehicle. Officers placed the driver, Paula Attebury, of Green River, under arrest, transported Attebury to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.  

At 9:31 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Uinta Drive and East Flaming Gorge Way and issued the driver, Liam Oneal, of Green River, a citation for alleged expired temporary license/improper registration.

At 9:48 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at East Flaming Gorge Way and Uinta Drive and issued the driver, a juvenile, 14, of Rock Springs, citations for alleged when headlights required violation, improper lane usage, no valid driver’s license and/or violations of driver’s license conditions. Officers issued a citation to the passenger Jacob Strickland, of Rock Springs, for alleged permit non-licensed to drive car.

Oct. 30

At 12:56 a.m., officers observed a vehicle with two individuals who appeared to be sleeping inside at FMC Park. Officers made contact with occupants, and one of the individuals was found to be a juvenile. Officers contacted a parent/guardian and transported the juvenile. Officers issued the juvenile, 16, of Rock Springs, a citation for alleged curfew violation. Officers gathered information, released the juvenile to a parent/ guardian, and completed a report of the incident.

At 2:41 a.m., officers responded to a report of a fight at the Embassy Tavern. Officers made contact with several parties, but the suspects had fled the area prior to officers’ arrival. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
