Cross Country finishes season at State, one All-State Honor

The Green River High School girls and boys cross country teams competed at the 3A State Championships at Wyoming Indian High School in Ethete this past Saturday. The young girls team, with five of six runners returning, finished sixth in the field of twelve teams with 96 runners. Leading the way for the Lady Wolves' runners was Isabelle Murdock who crossed the finish line in 16th place on the 5,000 meter course in 21:17.12. She was followed by Lily Murdock in 25th in 21:38.72 and Madison Murdock in 29th in 21:38.72. Meeka Iwen was 44th with a time of 22:25.58, followed by Jayleigh Wright in 62nd in 23:34.72, Liliana in 87th in 26:46.96, and Pamela Pena Esdcal in 93rd in 29:10.36.

For the boys, in the field of 1-7 runners, Nathan Stevenson ended his high school cross country season with an outstanding second place finish with a time of 16:37.31. Stevenson also earned All-State Honors. Next to cross the line for the Wolves was Hale Iwen in 64th in 19:25.67, followed by Keegan Gaily in 88th in 20.34.25, James Harper in 91st at 20:43.93, Christian Oswald 93rd in 20:53.85, Marcos Mandujano in 96th in 21:19.17 and Jordan Andrew in 102nd in 22:12.35. Gailey, Oswald and Andrew, all sophomores, give the boys team four potential returning runners.
