Head Coach Colleen Seiloff said the swim meet in Green River last Thursday went very well and they won the meet against Lander and Evanston. She said they traveled to Evanston on Saturday and also won the meet against Evanston, Kemmerer, Lyman, Rock Springs and Sublette County. "Some of the girls are getting tired but they were able to hang in there and were still able to cut times and some are getting their best times yet.", said Seiloff. She is impressed with how they're swimming and they're working really hard. Seiloff is pleased with the great group of swimmers that she has this year. She says they have great swimmers and divers, they don't complain and they get to practice and work hard.
It's very important to have divers on your swim team when competing at a meet. If you don't have divers you lose out on points and to stay ahead they are an important factor. Seiloff said, "It is really nice having the divers we have, we have two seniors this year so its going to be rough to replace them but we have some girls that are definitely trying to improve and step up for next year."
"There are thirteen swimmers that are qualified for state and a few that are very close, and with a little more work they have a good chance of getting there. What's cool about the thirteen qualifiers we have is they are qualified in multiple events. So that's really nice.", Seiloff said.
Seiloff added, "Across the board all our girls are putting in a lot of time and effort and working hard. We're starting to see some of the benefits of that hard work and we're just going to keep doing it until the end of the season and see what happens. Every meet to me is important because we learn something, we get better and we figure out what we need to do next. I just like to focus on what we're doing right now and getting better."
The Lady Wolves will host two swim meets this weekend. Green River will swim against Cheyenne Central at 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. they will take on Laramie. Both of these teams are very tough so it should be an interesting weekend.
