Velma Romero, 87, stepped into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 22 at Mission at Castle Rock Rehabilitation Center in Green River. She was a resident of Rock Springs for 59 years and former resident of Kemmerer.
She was born on January 25, 1935 in Kemmerer, the daughter of August Borino and Katrina Segala Borino.
Mrs. Romero attended schools in Kemmerer and was a 1953 graduate of Kemmerer High School.
She married Merced Ralph Romero on June 7, 1958 in Kemmerer. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2011.
Mrs. Romero was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Her interests included spending time with family, especially her grandchildren; reading; and playing cards. She enjoyed going to church. She was a wonderful cook for her family and friends. She loved sharing her recipes and memories of her Italian heritage.
Survivors include one son, Stephen Romero and wife Lisa of Rock Springs; two daughters, Cindy Skaarland and husband Jeff of Rock Springs; Christine Folks and husband Larry of Rock Springs; ten grandchildren, Nicole Elliott and husband Bob; Daniel Romero and wife Allegra; Ryan Romero and partner Brianne; Hannah Romero; Ben Folks and wife Candi; Jared Folks and wife Taylor; Aaron Folks; Dayna Yeager and husband Colton; Jessica Groom and husband Deryk; Traci Hager and husband Nathan; Chris Bullington and wife Kimberly; 27 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter Barbara Bullington; three brothers August Borino, Ernest Borino, and Leno Borino; and three sisters Katie Hangich, Dora Stevenson, and Vivian Borino.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, September 30 at Evangelical Free Church, 125 Firestone Road in Rock Springs. Graveside services and interment will be at noon on Saturday, October 1 at Diamondville Cemetery in Kemmerer.
