This past weekend the Green River Boys and Girls Tennis teams competed in the South Regionals for seeding position for the State meet to be held this Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Gillette.
The veteran, more-experienced boys team took first place in Regionals, getting favorable seedings for State. The boys No. 1 Doubles team of Zach Friel and Taylon Tirrell and the No. 2 Doubles team of David Ross and Chris Wilson both took first place, coming away as Regional champions. The No. 3 Doubles team of Theran Archibald and Michael Nielsen came in second. For the boys’ Singles, Korbin Arnell took second for No. 2 Singles, and Braxton Cordova took fourth among the No. 1 Singles. Arnell, Friel, Tirrell, Ross and Wilson all took All Conference Honors.
The younger up-and-coming girls team took fifth place overall, with all the competitors moving on to State and getting seeded based on their performance at Regionals. The No. 2 Doubles team of Malea Gomez and Lily Harris took third place, and Brianna Strauss took fourth for No. 1 Singles.
Head Coach Phil Harder was also named the South Conference Boys Coach of the Year during the Regional meet.
