The Green River High School coed golf team started the season with a strong day of competition at the Snake River Shootout in Afton last Wednesday. While the team only competed on the first day of the two-day competition, the Wolves came away with several team highlights, according to Assistant Coach Danielle Salas.
The boys on the team posted their lowest day one total achieved during Head Coach Karly Eyre's tenure. Junior Tyler Castillon and Junior Zayn Draney did especially well, both posting their lowest tournament rounds ever.
On the girls' side, the only returning varsity starter is Junior Isabell Salas. Salas was the only girl to shoot in the 70s on either day of the Snake River Shootout, posting a 78 on day one. While the other girls are just getting started, they did well during their first day.
"They are a new and young team, however they still finished fifth out of eight teams," Salas said.
The golf team's next competition will be the Star Valley invite this week.
