Aimone named conference softball coach of the year

The Lady Wolves’ softball season this year was a complete 180 turn from their first season.

A team with no wins in 2021 made it to the state tournament and notched nine wins throughout the season, five of which were in conference games.

“I’ve never seen such a turn around of a program at the high school level,” Athletics Director Tony Beardsley said. “We did not win a game in year one of our softball program.”

That turnaround impressed other coaches in the conference, resulting in them voting head softball coach Blair Aimone as the conference softball coach of the year.

Aimone herself believes the turn around was the result of everyone -- the players, their parents and the coaching staff -- all working together to improve.

Improvement itself was the main goal of the season.

“That’s what we preached to our kids. Are you better than you were yesterday,” she said.

Aimone focused her attention on her players when speaking about the award, saying the improvement was only possible from the team being willing to work hard and put forth the effort needed to better themselves.
