Knights win 2 before storms end invitational

The annual Knights Invite wood bat invitation didn't end the way anyone would have wanted this weekend.

Rainstorms persisted throughout the weekend, causing the Sunday slate of games to get canceled due to field conditions. However, that didn't stop the Green River Knights from notching a couple of wins Saturday.

The Knights first took on Evanston in a game that saw the Knights take an early 5-0 lead. Evanston was unable to make the deficit up as the Knights enjoyed receiving eight walks and stealing 20 bases throughout the game. The Knights were victorious 10-3.

The Knights' second game of the invite was a much closer affair with Lovell.

Green River won off of a bases-loaded walk at the bottom of the seventh inning, ending the game at 5-4. Throughout the game, Lovell walked 10 Knights and made two errors the Green River team was able to take advantage of.

According to Wyopreps.com, the Knights currently have a 6-9 record in the season. Following a double-header at home against Rawlins Wednesday, the Knights will play at the Roy Peck wood bat invitational in Riverton Saturday and Sunday.
