Wolves take 4-0 loss from Jackson

An early season match with the Jackson Broncs didn’t end the way the Wolves would have preferred when the game ended with a 4-0 defeat for the Wolves.

The Wolves struggled throughout the first half as the Broncs maintained control of the ball and scored three goals on the Green River squad. Head coach Jorge Salsedo said the pep talk he and the coaches had with the boys during halftime helped get the group into the game for the second half.

“We had a nice talk,” he said. “We talked about the hard work they put in.”

The Wolves came out more aggressive than the first half and while they were unable to score, they limited Jackson to one goal throughout the half. Despite not winning the game at the end of the day, Salcedo said he saw some encouraging signs from the Wolves.

“We were winning more 50/50 balls,” he said.

The Wolves have enjoyed an open week since last Saturday’s game, with their next appearance set for April 12 against the Rock Springs Tigers at Wolves Stadium, with action beginning at 5 p.m. Salcedo said the boys have worked hard throughout the week in drills that have included a scrimmage with the Lady Wolves. Salcedo said the Wolves are looking to be a different team than the one that took on Jackson when the Tigers come to Green River. As of press time, the Tigers have a 3-1 record with 1-1 league record following a 3-1 loss to Jackson Saturday in a game that saw a fight take place on the field between players from both teams. The Tigers take on Evanston this afternoon in Rock Springs.
