Ruth Anne Parson

Ruth Anne Parson, 82, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, February 17th, 2022 at Mission at Castle Rock in Green River, Wyoming. She was a resident of Wyoming for the last 5 years and a former resident of Isle, Minnesota.

"Ruthie" was born August 3rd, 1939 in Starbuck Minnesota; daughter of William Smedstead and Gladys Lida. A proud small town farm girl to her core, she never strayed far from the lessons of her upbringing. Love God, work hard, use good manners, be gracious, and serve others. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage.

Ruthie attended schools in Minnesota and was a 1957 graduate of Starbuck High School. She also attended Concordia College (Go Cobbers!) where she earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and Business. Ruthie went to work for Anoka County in Minnesota for 30 years, until her well-earned retirement in 2000 as a Social Worker. She was deeply loved by her coworkers and clients.

Ruthie was a true "super mom" who worked full time and simultaneously managed to also raise two fishermen, a husband, and about a dozen other boys from the neighborhood. She put a full family dinner on the table every night, kept a clean home full of love, and somehow managed to never miss a birthday or other important event for her family, friends, and extended family. She was a church organist and played in the bell choir ("we are really good!" she would proudly say). She tucked her boys into bed every night by singing "Jesus Loves Me" with them. Hard of hearing her whole life she was fluent in ASL and her hearing aids squeaked when you hugged her. This made her boys giggle when they were little and they thought all moms squeaked when you hugged them. She played a mean game of bridge with friends, sewed clothes anyone would be proud to wear, was great at gardening, and was the undisputed queen of making lefse! Her bright blue eyes always sparkled and her smile was comforting to all.

Survivors include her husband Michael W. Parson of Green River, Wyoming; two sons, David A. Parson and wife Michelle Morin of Cape Corral Florida; Daniel W. Parson and wife Bethany of Green River, Wyoming; four grandchildren, Mikalea Miller; Colt Parson; Mitchell Winter; Mia Worrell

She was preceded in death by her parents, and three beloved sisters, Olive Larson; Ardis Burrington; Carol Kleckner; who are all undoubtedly having a wild time in heaven right now!

Ruthie led a beautiful life of service to others. The echoes of her love and kindness resonate powerfully in the countless lives she touched with her generous heart and beautiful spirit.

Following Cremation, Services will be held at Mount of Olives Lutheran Church in Rock Springs on March 16th at 2pm.
