Swimmer breaks conference record, team prepares for state

The Green River High School boys swim team has continued to work hard during the last weeks of the season, adding more qualifiers for state and setting a new record.

Last Saturday the Wolves headed to Lyman for the conference meet, where the team took second place overall. Braxton Cordova was the conference champion among the divers, and Brady Young was the conference champion in the 500-yard freestyle event, breaking the conference record with a time of 4:58.31.

“We had good strong swims for our team being kind of young with just one senior on our team,” Coach Colleen Seiloff said.

With the season wrapping up, the team is now focusing on preparing for state.

“We’re just continuing to work hard and getting ready,” Seiloff said. “Small details right now is kind of the focus.”

Currently 16 swimmers are qualified for state. The team will have their Last Chance meet today to try to add a few more before heading to the state competition in Gillette next weekend.

“I’m just looking forward to being able to take this group there and get the experience at state and just seeing how well they do. I have no idea, so we’ll see where they end up,” Seiloff said. “We’re excited to go and celebrate 12 weeks of hard work.”
