Emma Portillo, 85, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Mission at Castle Rock in Green River, Wyoming. She died following a two-week illness. Mrs. Portillo was a long-time resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming and former resident of Superior, Wyoming.
She was born November 18, 1936 in Riverton, Wyoming; the daughter of John Nash Apodaca and Jennie (Valdez) Apodaca
Mrs. Portillo attended schools in Superior, Wyoming. She obtained her GED. Mrs. Portillo received her Secretarial Certificate from Western Wyoming Community College.
She married Jesse J. Portillo May 7, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mrs. Portillo worked for Nelson Engineering; Paul J. Wataha Accounting Firm and Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County as a secretary. She retired in 1986.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Community.
Mrs. Portillo enjoyed spending time with family especially her children and grandchildren. She loved to cross stitch; bowling; golfing; traveling and dancing.
Survivors include her husband Jesse J. Portillo of Rock Springs, Wyoming; three sons; Jesse J. Portillo and wife Sue of Rock Springs, Wyoming; Johnny Portillo and wife Pam of Saratoga, Wyoming; Michael Portillo of Mesquite, Nevada; one sister, Cora Hernandez of Indio, California; four grandchildren, Lana Elder of Saratoga, Wyoming; Devon Reinert and husband B.J. of Centennial, Wyoming; Jesse Portillo III of Rock Springs, Wyoming; Sharif Portillo of Laramie, Wyoming. several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; several cousins; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation has taken place; a Private Service will take place at a later date.
