Green River Police Department reports for Jan. 4
At 6:45 a.m., officers and EMS responded to a report of an unresponsive individual. EMS attempted life saving measures and the individual was pronounced deceased on the scene. No suspicious circumstances are suspected. The case is still under investigation. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.
At 9:20 a.m., officers along with the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Department, Department of Criminal Investigations, and Rock Springs Police Department responded to reports of threats at the Sweetwater County Courthouse in Green River. The courthouse was immediately locked down, contact was made with the suspect by phone, and a perimeter was set around the building. Officers worked to clear the inside of the building, outside of the building, and surrounding areas. Officers did not locate the suspect or an explosive device at the courthouse. The courthouse was released from lockdown, the case is still under investigation and officers completed a report of the incident.
At 11:41 a.m., officers responded to a report of a violation of a protection order on North 1st East Street. Officers met with an individual who reported a violation of a protection order. Officers made contact with the other individual, and completed a report of the incident.
At 2:07 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision at the Bird’s Nest Restaurant. Officers met with an individual who reported finding damage to the passenger side of their vehicle, which had been parked and unoccupied in the parking lot. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 3:53 p.m., officers responded to a report of a larceny reported at the GRPD office. Officers met with an individual who reported their credit card information had been stolen and unauthorized charges had been made. Officers completed a report of the incident. The case is still under investigation.
Jan. 5
At 12:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Upland Way and Grant Circle and issued a citation to the driver Paul Helvik, 50, of Green River, for an alleged stop sign violation.
Jan. 6
At 12:05 a.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance at 98 Uinta Drive. Officers, while en route, observed a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle owned by one of the individuals involved in the disturbance. Officers attempted to follow the vehicle in order to make contact with the driver about the disturbance, but the vehicle entered the trailer park, turned the headlights off, and the vehicle sped up and left the officer’s view. Once the officers located the vehicle again it was parked. Officers followed the footprints in the snow, which led to locating the individual suspected of being involved in the disturbance. Officers gathered a statement from the individual and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the individual’s breath. Officers attempted to place the individual under arrest and the subject resisted. Officers placed Bradley Setzer, 41, of Green River, under arrest for alleged public intoxication and interference with peace officer - resisting arrest and transported Setzer to the Sweetwater County Detention Center. Officers completed a report of the incident.
Jan. 6
At 1:16 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Monroe Avenue and ascertained the passenger had an active warrant. Hayden Riggs, 22, of Green River, was placed under arrest per the active warrant and transported to the Sweetwater County Detention Center.
At 3:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of fraud on Montana Way. Officers met with an individual who reported they received a suspicious friend request through Facebook posing as one of their friends. The fraudulent friend advised they had received a $50,000 cash advance and they had to accept the friend request and wait to be contacted by an agent to receive the funds. The individual then started receiving messages requesting a $300 Steam Card so the $50,000 could be delivered. When the individual refused to comply threatening messages were sent. No monetary losses were reported and officers completed a report of the incident.
At 4 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision. It was reported one vehicle was traveling north on North 5th West Street and was stopped at the stop sign. A second vehicle was traveling east on West Flaming Gorge Way approaching the intersection. As the first vehicle pulled into the intersection, the second vehicle struck the driver’s side of the first vehicle. Officers met with the drivers of the vehicles and EMS and GRFD was called to the scene. The driver of the first vehicle was transported by ambulance and officers completed a report of the incident.
At 7:08 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision. It was reported one vehicle was traveling southbound on Uinta Drive over the overpass when it was struck by another vehicle, which was traveling south bound adjacent to the vehicle that was struck. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle that struck the other and completed a report of the incident.
At 11:22 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with the individuals involved in an altercation. Officers subsequently placed Raymond Martinez, 40, of Green River, under arrest for alleged domestic battery - second offense and interference with emergency calls - knowing obstructs or interferes with completion of call. Officers transported Martinez to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.
Jan. 7
At 6:44 a.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle that had hit a deer at Uinta Drive and River View Drive. It was reported a vehicle was traveling northbound on Uinta when a deer ran into the roadway. The vehicle was unable to stop and the vehicle struck the deer. The deer was located and seemed to be ok. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 11:08 a.m., officers responded to a report of malicious mischief at the Embassy Tavern that occurred on Jan. 6. Officers met with the owner and bartender that reported an individual that had been in the bar the previous night, causing a disturbance, and had been asked to leave the property was suspected to have egged the building. They advised they do not wish to pursue any charges for malicious mischief or trespassing at this time. Officers made contact with the suspected individual and issued a warning about an active trespass warning for the property. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 12:12 p.m., officers responded to a report of property damage at Smith’s. Officers met with an individual who reported finding damage to their vehicle that had been parked in the parking lot while they were shopping. Officers reviewed video footage and completed a report of the incident.
At 3:14 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault. Officers met with an individual who reported being assaulted by a known individual. EMS was called to the scene and the individual was transported. Officers attempted to locate the suspected individual and completed a report of the incident, which is still under investigation. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.
At 5:54 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with the individuals involved in a verbal dispute. Officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.
At 6:08 p.m., officers responded to a report of a larceny at Mansface Liquor. Officers met with the owner who reported that an individual attempted to steal a bottle of liquor and when confronted the individual set the bottle down and left the store. Officers reviewed video footage and attempted to locate the suspect. Officers completed a report of the incident.
Jan. 8
At 3:33 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision at Smith’s. Officers met with an individual who reported their vehicle had been hit and was damaged. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 8:04 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision. It was reported one vehicle was parked facing south on Virginia Drive and a second vehicle was parked facing east on Iowa Drive. The driver of the first vehicle began to reverse the vehicle and crossed the roadway of Iowa Drive and the rear of the vehicle struck the passenger side of the second vehicle. Officers ascertained the driver of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license, and issued the driver Chase Dolce, 20, of Rock Springs, a citation for alleged no valid driver’s license.
Jan. 9
At 12:51 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Uinta Drive. It was reported one vehicle was backing into their parking space when the rear passenger side bumper of the vehicle struck the drivers side of a second vehicle, which was parked and unoccupied.
At 10:12 p.m., officers responded to a report of a barking dog on Hitching Post Drive. Officers located the residence and made contact with the owner. Officers advised of the complaint, issued a verbal warning, and completed a report of the incident.
Jan. 10
At 10:41 a.m., officers responded to a report of a fight in progress at the Flaming Gorge Motel. Upon arrival officers met with two individuals involved in a physical altercation. EMS was called to the scene, two transports were made, and officers completed a report of the incident.
At 4:54 p.m., officers responded to a report of a REDDI, Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately, report on Upland Way and subsequently placed the driver, Candon Jones, 34, of Green River, under arrest for alleged DWUI, DWUS, and open container. Officers transported Jones to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.
At 11:51 p.m., officers, while on another incident call, learned of a suspected domestic altercation. Officers met with the individuals and took statements. The involved parties were separated and officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.
Jan. 11
At 3:20 a.m., officers responded to a report of an assault in progress. Officers met an individual who reported there was an individual allegedly assaulting another individual inside of a residence. Officers could hear noises coming from inside the residence and attempted to make contact with the occupants.
After officers gained entry into the residence they located several individuals. Officers met with the individuals who advised a verbal dispute had taken place, and ascertained one of the individuals had active warrants and was in possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers placed Tylor Stewart, 28, of Green River, under arrest per the active warrants and issued a citation for alleged unlawful possession - powder or crystalline less than 3 grams - first offense.
Officers transported Stewart to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.
