Green River Police Department reports for Dec. 16

At 12:11 p.m., officers responded to a report of a larceny at Maverik. Officers met with the manager who reported several individuals had come into the store, one of the individuals made a purchase and took another item, and believed the other individual concealed several items on their person, then left the store. Officers located the suspected individuals and the stolen property. Officers issued Nathaniel Lee, 24, of Rock Springs, and Anthony Bryson, 19, homeless, citations for alleged shoplifting, and issued trespass warnings for the property. Officers completed a report of the incident. 

At 8:42 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with the individuals involved in a verbal dispute. The parties were separated and officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to. 

Dec. 17 

At 12:03 a.m., officers responded to a report of vandalism on Mansface Street. Officers met with an individual who reported that they thought somebody was throwing rocks at their apartment window. Officers located the suspected individual and completed a report of the incident. 

At 8:25 a.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle driving through a crosswalk while the crossing guard was still in the crosswalk on West Teton Boulevard. Officers met with the driver, issued a verbal warning, and completed a report of the incident. 

At 9:46 a.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Hitching Post Drive. It was reported one vehicle was backing out of a parking space and struck a second vehicle.  Officers issued the driver of the first vehicle, Benjamin Jorgensen, 18, of Green River, a citation for alleged inattentive driving and completed a report of the incident. 

At 1:16 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at Green River High School. It was reported one vehicle was backing out of a parking space and struck a second vehicle. Officers issued the driver of the first vehicle, a juvenile, 16, a citation for alleged inattentive driving and completed a report of the incident. 

At 9:37 p.m., officers responded to a report of a civil standby on Homestead Drive. Officers met with the individuals involved, conducted the civil standby, and completed a report of the incident. 

At 9:37 p.m., officers while on a call ascertained one of the individuals had an outstanding warrant. Officers confirmed the warrant and placed Chad Gunter, 49, of Green River, under arrest per the active warrant. Officers transported Gunter to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident. 

Dec. 18 

At 12:26 p.m., officers responded to a report of individuals hunting on city property on Scotts Bottom Road. Officers observed the individuals and made contact. The individuals advised they had been duck hunting and showed officers where. It was determined they had been hunting outside of city limits. Officers issued verbal warnings and completed a report of the incident. 

At 2:13 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at Green River High School. It was reported one vehicle was backing out of a parking space and struck a second vehicle. Officers completed a report of the incident.  

Dec. 19 

At 11:07 a.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision. Officers met with an individual who reported their vehicle, which was parked on the north side of the roadway on Trail Drive, had been struck on the driver’s side front quarter panel of the vehicle. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 8:21 p.m., officers responded to a report of vandalism at Jackson Elementary School. Officers observed a door of the building that had been spray painted with graffiti and completed a report of the incident.

Dec. 20

At 7:59 a.m., School Resource Officers responded to a report of a student in possession of a suspected alcoholic beverage. Officers met with school administration, the students involved, and parents or guardians. Officers subsequently issued citations to a juvenile, 15, of Green River, for alleged use or possession of tobacco by a minor and underage possession of alcohol; and a juvenile, 14, of Green River, for alleged underage consumption. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 8:45 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Shoshone Avenue and Mountain View Street and issued the driver, Susan Lucero, 72, of Green River, a citation for alleged speeding school zone. 

At 10:51 a.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at Mission at Castle Rock Rehabilitation Center and the Villa. It was reported one vehicle was traveling through the parking area and turned to pull into a parking space adjacent to a second vehicle, which was parked in a parking space, and the front passenger side of the first vehicle struck the rear driver’s side of the second vehicle. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 3:20 p.m., officers, along with an underage buyer, age 18, of Green River, conducted alcohol compliance checks on local establishments that sell alcoholic beverages. Officers issued a citation to Michael Wickham, 81, of Green River, for alleged sell or furnish alcohol to person younger than 21 and completed a report of the incident.

At 10:34 p.m., officers responded to a report of a noise complaint on Schultz Street. Officers met with the resident, advised of the loud music complaint, and completed a report of the incident.

Dec. 21

At 11:50 a.m., officers responded to a report of a juvenile in possession of a tobacco product at Jackson Elementary School. Officers met with the juvenile, confiscated the tobacco product, and issued a citation to the juvenile, 16, of Rock Springs, for alleged unlawful possession of tobacco by a minor, second offense. Officers completed a report of the incident.

Dec. 22

At 12:36 a.m., officers responded to a report of an individual threatening another individual. Officers met with the individual, issued a citation for alleged public Intoxication - 2nd offense to Kayla Carlson, 38, of Green River, and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 8:52 a.m., officers responded to a report of stolen property from a vehicle on North Riverbend Drive. Officers met with the reporting party and gathered their statement as well as information on the missing property. Officers completed a report of the incident. This case is still under investigation. 

At 11:46 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at McDonald’s and issued the driver, Cristy Gundez, 51, of Green River, a citation for alleged speed violation. 

At 3:06 p.m., officers responded to a report of vandalism on Idaho Street. The reporting party advised that a shed had been spray painted on the property. Officers took photos of the damage and completed a report of the incident.

At 8:03 p.m., officers responded to a report of lost property reported at the GRPD office. The reporting person advised they had lost their ID card somewhere in town and have been unable to locate it. Officers completed a report of the incident.

Dec. 23

At 1:28 p.m., officers responded to a report of civil issues on North 8th West Street. The reporting party was requesting a civil standby to retrieve belongings from a residence. Officers completed a report of the incident. 

At 2:12 p.m., officers responded to a report of harassment. Officers met with the reporting parties who advised they had been receiving harassing phone calls as well as mail sent to them over a social media post. Officers spoke with the alleged suspects and advised them of the issues. Officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 6:04 p.m., officers responded to a report of stolen property from a vehicle on South Riverbend Drive. Officers met with the reporting party and gathered their statement as well as information on the missing property. Officers completed a report of the incident. This case is still under investigation.

Dec. 24

At 1:26 p.m., officers responded to a single vehicle crash at Castle Rock Medical Center. A vehicle was making a turn in the parking lot and struck a light pole. Officers gathered the driver’s statement and completed a report of the incident.

At 6:34 p.m., officers responded to a report of lost property. Officers gathered information about the lost property from the reporting party. Later in the day officers received a report of found property which was determined to be the lost property from this report. Officers returned the property to the owner and completed a report of the incident.

At 8:09 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two vehicle crash at the intersection of River View Drive and Uinta Drive. A vehicle was stopped at the traffic signal waiting to turn left when another vehicle approached from behind and attempted to stop but was unable to due to the icy road conditions. The second vehicle collided with the rear of the stopped vehicle, causing damage to it. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 8:55 p.m., officers observed a vehicle that had slid off the roadway on Monroe Avenue and collided with a sign and tree. Officers met with the driver who advised he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve due to the icy road conditions. The driver, Jeffrey Scott, 18, of Green River, was issued a citation for alleged speed too fast for conditions. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 9:21 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run on Andrews Street. The reporting party advised that sometime during the night her vehicle was hit causing damage to the driver’s side front and rear doors. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 9:33 p.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary on Windriver Drive. Officers met with the reporting party who advised that while they were not home, someone had broken into the residence and stolen several items. Officers searched the residence for evidence that could lead to determining a suspect and were unable to locate any leads. The reporting party provided officers a list of items that were taken and officers completed a report of the incident. This case is still under investigation.

Dec. 25

At 12:19 a.m., officers responded to a report of a verbal disturbance on East 3rd North Street. While speaking with the involved parties, officers also became aware of property damage that had occurred during the disturbance. Officers gathered statements from the involved parties and were advised that one of the parties had caused damage to another party’s trailer and mountain bikes. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 5:41 p.m., officers responded to a report of a verbal domestic. Officers met with both parties who advised the argument was only verbal and never turned physical. The parties agreed to separate for the night and advised there would be no further issues. Officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 8:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on Elm Street. The driver of one vehicle advised she was backing out of a driveway and was unable to stop due to icy road conditions. The vehicle slid backwards into a parked vehicle on the side of the road. Officers observed the damage to the vehicles and issued the driver, McKinley Job, 21, of Green River, a citation for alleged improper backing. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 8:41 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two vehicle crash. One vehicle was attempting to make a left turn north onto Uinta Drive off of Riverview Drive. Another vehicle was traveling west on Astle Avenue and was driving straight through the intersection of Uinta and Riverview. The first vehicle failed to yield the right of way to the second vehicle and crashed into the driver’s side of the second vehicle. Officers observed damage to the vehicles and completed a report of the incident.

At 10:43 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance. Officers met with both parties who advised that they had been in a verbal argument that never turned physical. The parties advised they would be quiet for the remainder of the night. Officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

Dec. 26

At 8:13 a.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run on Mansface Street. Officers met with the owner of two vehicles who advised that sometime during the night one of their vehicles, which was parked on the street outside the residence, was hit hard enough to push the vehicle into another vehicle. Officers observed the damage to both vehicles and attempted to locate a possible driver. Later in the day officers received a phone call from the person who was driving the vehicle that hit the other vehicles. He advised he was not aware he hit another vehicle until a family member pointed the damage to his vehicle out to him. He advised while driving early that morning he hit an icy spot in the road which caused his vehicle to slide and thought that he hit a dry patch which caused his vehicle to stop, he was unaware it was a vehicle he had hit. Officers issued the driver, Travis Poll, 40, of Green River, a citation for alleged speed too fast for conditions. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 9:35 a.m., officers responded to a report of a two vehicle crash at Apache Avenue and Clear View Drive. A vehicle was driving northeast on Apache when it lost traction due to the icy road conditions and slid into another vehicle which was parked along the side of the road. Officers observed the damage to the vehicles and completed a report of the incident.

At 10:18 a.m., officers responded to a report of a two vehicle collision at Trail Drive and Winterview Drive. Officers met with the driver of a snowplow who advised that while plowing the roads he traveled down a hill on Winterview Drive and attempted to slow down to make a turn, but due to the icy road conditions was unable to and slid into a vehicle which was parked in a driveway. Officers observed the damage to the vehicle and completed a report of the incident.

At 7:41 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Uinta Drive and East 2nd South Street and issued the driver, Nicholas Milliken, 32, of Rock Springs, citations for alleged seat belt: driver violation, compulsory auto insurance violation - first offense, and vehicle superintendent’s speed zone (6+ mph over). 

At 11:55 p.m., officers responded to a report of a subject needing removed from a residence on Uinta Drive. Officers met with the reporting party who advised she would like the other party removed from the residence due to them arguing. Officers were unable to remove the party from the residence as they had established residency there. The reporting party advised they would go stay elsewhere for the night and there would be no further issues. Officers completed a report of the incident.

Dec. 27

At 3:10 a.m., officers responded to a report of a two vehicle collision. A vehicle was driving north on West Virginia Place when her vehicle lost traction due to icy road conditions and slid into another vehicle which was parked alongside the road. Officers observed damage to the vehicles and issued the driver of the first vehicle, Crystal Hoskins, 48, of Green River, citations for alleged failure to provide roof of liability coverage, and speed too fast for conditions. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 3:38 a.m., officers observed a stop sign that appeared to have been hit by a vehicle at the intersection of North 4th West Street and West Flaming Gorge Way. Officers observed the damage to the stop sign as well as debris around the crash site. Officers were able to obtain video footage of the crash. A vehicle was attempting a a right turn onto North 4th West but slid through the intersection due to icy road conditions and struck the stop sign. The vehicle has not been located at this time. Officers completed a report of the incident.

Dec. 28

At 3:10 a.m., officers observed a vehicle that had no tail lights illuminated and attempted to stop the vehicle which then failed to stop, sped up, and eventually crashed on Monroe Avenue near West Teton Boulevard. When officers attempted to contact the occupants of the vehicle, one subject fled on foot, but was later located. The other subject remained on scene. Officers ascertained the vehicle had been stolen from the Sweetwater County School District maintenance yard. Both subjects, juveniles, 16 and 17, of Green River, were arrested and transported to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and officers completed a report of the incident.
