Robert "Bob" Leland Diehl died on October 18, 2021 at his home in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He had been struggling with health issues for the past few years.
He was born on December 25, 1934 in Greeley, Colorado; the son of Amos and Elizabeth Diehl.
He married Janice Roth that gave him two daughters, Cindy Diehl Maestas and husband Paul; Kimmie Diehl Rouse and husband Warren. Bob and Janice later divorced.
He married Darleen Fabiny and added to his family with a son Billy Diehl and wife Lane; daughter Robynn Diehl Fahrenbach and husband Karl. Bob and Darleen later divorced.
He married Dona Hornsby in Juneau, Alaska on July 17, 1987 this marriage added another daughter Charlotte Doak and husband Mike; and son Rodger Hornsby.
Bob attended schools in Rock Springs, Wyoming and was a 1953 graduate of Rock Springs High School. He was honorably discharged from both National Guard in 1960; United States Armed Forces in 1963. He drove truck for several trucking companies until he hired on at Bridger Coal Company. He was a Main Drag Liner Operator until his retirement. He was very proud of the fact that he operated the largest piece of equipment at Bridger Coal.
Bob and Dona moved to Pinedale, Wyoming a few years before he retired. They enjoyed the great outdoors. Bob had a passion for hunting, fishing and snow machining. He helped start the Archeological Club in Pinedale. He also taught himself the art of Knapping Arrowheads. He looked forward to Rendezvous Days in Pinedale every year. Bob was an avid reader of many topics. He enjoyed Western TV Shows / Movies and "dressed" with the cowboy hat and boots. He cheered for Wyoming Cowboys and Denver Bronco's. He kept hand written journals of his and Dona's life adventures living in Pinedale. In his later years Bob enjoyed having coffee with "The Boys" at the local coffee shops in Pinedale.
He is survived by wife Dona Diehl of Rock Springs, Wyoming; all of his children; brother-in-law Dewey Corhn, brother Ev Diehl, sister, Marilyn Howard, several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary Diehl, sister, Susan Corhn, grandson's Brandon Felderman and Lance Diehl.
Cremation has taken place; at his request there will be no services.
