Gerald "Dean" McCreary

Gerald "Dean" McCreary, 87, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He was a resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming for the past five years and former Resident of Daniel, Wyoming and Green River, Wyoming, He died following a sudden illness.

He was born on March 18, 1934 in Enid, Oklahoma, the son of Fred McCreary and Adda Ekart.

Mr. McCreary attended schools in Enid, Oklahoma.

He married Sandra Lorenz on January 17, 1955 in Enid, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2021.

Mr. McCreary worked for North American Van Lines having retired in 2005 as a VIP Truck Driver. He was a mover for the King Tut Exhibit as well as moving Princess Anne from Florida to California.

He was a United States Veteran having served in the Army as a mechanic.

Mr. McCreary loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed driving heavy equipment helping many along the way and hunting pheasants.

Survivors include his son, Scott McCreary and wife Cindy of Green River, Wyoming; his daughter, Sonya Robinson and husband Henry of Green River, Wyoming; one brother, Glenn McCreary of Capoosa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Hazel Reed and husband Bill of Enid, Oklahoma; Joyce Cowan of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Derek Robinson and wife Heather; Natosha Glenn and husband Jacob; Orin Robinson and wife Heather; Ty Robinson and wife Keisha of Kemmerer, Wyoming as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sandra McCreary; three brothers, Charles McCreary; Ira McCreary; Fred McCreary; two sisters; Ellen McCreary; Dode Simrod; one granddaughter, Alycia Smith.

The family respectfully requests donations be made to Fisher House VA, 690 Valdez, Salt Lake City, Utah 84113.

Cremation will take place; there will be no services at his request.
