Girls golf takes second place at State

After a strong season, the Green River High School golf team came away from the 3A State Championship in Lander last weekend with a very strong showing.

Three All-State golfers among the girls were named, with improvement noted amongst the boys.

The girls team came in second place overall, losing to Wheatland by just two strokes.

However, three individual girls ranked in the top 10 overall, earning them 2021 WCA All-State in Golf honors from the Wyoming Coaches’ Association.

The boys team finished in 11th overall, which was “one of the strongest showings we’ve had from the boys in a long time,” according to Coach Karly Eyre. Several boys also finished within the top 50 players, with Ryker Mele doing the best with a 20th place finish.

“I am extremely proud,” Eyre said. “All of our kids really put in the time and worked this season, for themselves and for the golf family.”
