Green River Police Department reports for Sept. 12
At 1:38 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the Green River Recreation Center. It was reported one vehicle was parked facing north in the first parking aisle and a second vehicle was parked and unoccupied facing south in the parking aisle south of the first vehicle. As the first vehicle reversed south out of the parking space the rear passenger side of the vehicle struck the rear passenger side of the second vehicle. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 5:24 p.m., officers responded to a report of two individuals fighting at Vermont Court. Officer met with the individuals involved in an altercation. The involved parties were calm and officers did not observe any signs of a physical fight. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 7:23 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with individuals involved in a verbal dispute. Officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.
Sept. 13
At 8:01 a.m., officers responded to a report of a citizen assist on Wilkes Drive. Officers met with an individual with concerns for a family member. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 8:27 a.m., officers conducted a random canine search at Green River High School with the assistance of the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office K-9 service dogs. The canine search resulted in three positive alerts. One of the three alerts resulted in the discovery of a tobacco vaping device. Officers met with the juvenile in possession of the tobacco product, a parent and school administration. Officers issued a citation for alleged possession of tobacco by minor to the juvenile, 16, of Green River, and completed a report of the incident.
At 10:11 a.m., officers responded to a report of an emergency school safety drill at Lincoln Middle School. The drill was completed successfully.
At 12:04 p.m., officers responded to a report of property damage at Hilltop Baptist Church. Officers met with an individual who reported a broken window on the east side of the building. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 2:29 p.m., officers responded to a report of an emergency school safety drill at Expedition Academy High School. The drill was completed successfully.
At 3:22 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident. It was reported one vehicle was traveling south on Uinta Drive and stopped in the center turning lane preparing to turn left onto Monroe Avenue. As the vehicle initiated the left turn, it was struck by a second vehicle that was traveling northbound on Uinta Drive. Officers issued the driver of the first vehicle, John Anastos, 82, of Green River, a citation for alleged inattentive driving with crash. Officers completed a report of the incident. Minor injuries were reported, but no transports were made.
At 3:44 p.m., officers responded to a report of a bus light violation at the intersection of West Teton Boulevard and Wind River Drive. It was reported a vehicle drove past the bus while the stop arm and lights were activated. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 6:22 p.m., officers responded to a report of missing items on Wilkes Drive. Officers met with an individual who reported a known individual took items that belonged to them. Officers met with the individual, made sure the items were returned, and completed a report of the incident.
Sept. 14
At 10:52 a.m., officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Dewar Drive. Officers were notified by RSPD of a stolen vehicle being located in Green River. Officers located the vehicle and confirmed it was the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was transported and officers completed a report of the incident.
At 11:08 a.m., officers responded to a report of a prior verbal domestic. Officers met with an individual at the GRPD who reported damage to the windshield of their vehicle that occurred during a dispute. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 12:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault. Officers met with an individual who reported a physical altercation with another individual. Officers subsequently issued Tamara Wagoner, 62, of Green River a citation for alleged unlawful contact. Officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.
At 3:03 p.m., officers responded to a report of check fraud on Monroe Avenue. Officers met with an individual who reported a payroll check that was supposed to be mailed to them was stolen and had been deposited by an unknown individual. Officers completed a report of the incident. The case is still under investigation.
At 3:09 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run on Shoshone Avenue. Officers met with an individual who reported while sitting in their delivery truck they felt an impact. It was reported a vehicle was backing out of their driveway when it struck the delivery truck. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 6:11 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance at River View Drive and Cedar Street. Officers met with an individual who reported after having to slam on their brakes to avoid a crash, they were harassed by the other driver who eventually punched and pulled at the window of their vehicle causing damage. Officers located the suspected individual and subsequently placed Wolfgang Dittman, 20, under arrest for alleged property destruction and defacement greater than $1,000. Officers transported Dittman to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.
Sept. 15
At 9:59 a.m., School Resource Officers responded to a report of two students in possession of a tobacco product at Green River High School. Officers met with the suspected students and located tobacco vaping devices. Officers issued a citation for alleged use or possession of tobacco by a minor- first offense to a juvenile, 14, of Green River. The juvenile was turned over to a parent/ guardian and officers completed a report of the incident.
At 2:29 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision. It was reported one vehicle was stopped at the entrance to Green River High School and a second vehicle was traveling northbound on Hitching Post Drive. As the second vehicle passed by the entrance, the first vehicle initiated a left turn, causing the front passenger side of the first vehicle to strike the driver’s side of the second vehicle. Officers called emergency medical services to evaluate the drivers and passengers, but no transports were made. Officers issued the driver of the first vehicle, a juvenile, 16, of Green River, for alleged failure to grant right of way with a crash. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 3:16 p.m., officers responded to a report of a larceny at Penny’s Diner. Officers met with an individual who reported their wallet had been stolen and their charge cards had been used. Officers completed a report of the incident. The case is still under investigation.
At 8:55 p.m., officers responded to a report of trespassing on Sunset Street. Officers met with individuals who requested to have another individual issued a trespass warning for their property. Officers attempted to make contact with the individual and completed a report of the incident.
Sept. 16
At 1:50 a.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Monroe Avenue. Officers met with the individual causing the disturbance and had damaged property. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 3:41 a.m., officers responded to a report of a larceny on Buckboard Lane. Officers met with an individual who reported their storage room had been ransacked and items were missing. Officers completed a report of the incident. The case is still under investigation.
At 8:28 a.m., officers responded to a report of a missing person on East 4th Street. Officers met with an individual who reported seeing an individual matching the description of a missing person. Officers attempted to confirm the sighting and completed a report of the incident. The case is still under investigation.
At 9:22 a.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision at Maverick. Officers met with an individual who reported finding damage to their vehicle. Officers completed a report of the incident. The case is still under investigation.
At 6:14 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stolen bicycle at Harrison Elementary School. Officers met with an individual who reported a bicycle that was stolen from the school property. Officers completed a report of the incident, which is still under investigation.
At 9:52 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance at Ponderosa Bar. Officers met with several individuals who reported an individual that was causing a disturbance. Officers escorted the individual off of the property and completed a report of the incident.
At 11:13 p.m., officers responded to a report of threats/harassment. Officers met with an individual who reported receiving threatening messages from two known individuals. Officers contacted the individuals and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.
Sept. 17
At 9:27 a.m., officers responded to a report of larceny on South Fifth West Street. Officers met with an individual who reported a light and yard decorations were missing or stolen from their yard. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 9:41 a.m., officers responded to a report of an individual with an outstanding warrant. Officers met with the individual and probation agents, confirmed the warrant, and placed Michael Mount, 32, of Rock Springs, under arrest per the active warrant. Officers transported Mount to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.
At 9:57 a.m., officers responded to a report of trespassing on Crossbow Drive. Officers met with an individual who requested to have a trespass warning issued to another individual. Officers contacted the individual, issued the trespass warning, and completed a report of the incident.
At 10:55 a.m., officers responded to a report of several soap dispensers that had been removed and vandalized at Lincoln Middle School. Officers met with the suspected individuals and completed a report of the incident, which is still under investigation.
At 12:38 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual with an arrest and hold order. Officers met with the individual and probation agents, confirmed the arrest order, and placed Brandon Greniert, 40, of Rock Springs, under arrest per the active arrest and hold order. Officers transported Grenier to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.
Sept. 18
At 8:49 a.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Kansas Street. It was reported one vehicle, towing a flatbed trailer, was maneuvering and backing the trailer when the trailer struck a second vehicle, which was parked facing west on Kansas St. Officers issued the driver Jace Stevenson, 39, of Green River, a citation for alleged improper backing. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 3:15 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on River View Drive and Aspen Street and issued the driver Phaedon Jones, 22, of Green River, a citation for alleged expired temporary license permit/improper registration.
Sept. 19
At 12:33 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Bridger Drive. Officers met with an individual who reported their vehicle missing/stolen. Officers completed a report of the incident, which is still under investigation.
At 1:36 p.m., Animal Control Officers responded to an animal at large on Crossbow Drive. Officers impounded the dog and issued the owner Amber Hemsley, 27, of Green River, a citation for alleged animal at large.
At 9:51 p.m., officers responded to a report of vandalism on North First East Street. Officers met with an individual who reported one of their flags they had mounted on the building had been damaged. Officers completed a report of the incident.
Sept. 20
At 8:44 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Shoshone Avenue and Hitching Post Drive and issued the driver, Nancy Leffers, 52, of Green River, a citation for alleged speeding in a school zone.
At 12:07 p.m., officers responded to a report of malicious mischief on Hitching Post Drive. Officers met with an individual who reported finding ketchup spread on their car and the air let out of their tires. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 12:23 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision at Expedition Island. Officers met with an individual who reported finding damage to their vehicle that had been parked and unoccupied. Officers completed a report of the incident.
