Gabriel Rudy Lamorie Jr.

Gabriel Rudy Lamorie Jr. completed his journey here on August 28th 2021 at 1:06pm at Ogden Regional Medical Center after a courageous 11 day battle against COVID-19.

Gabriel, lovingly known as "Butch", was born July 16th 1962 in Los Angeles, CA to parents Juanita and Gabriel Lamorie Sr.

After graduating from Hannah Elk Mountain High School in 1979, he proudly joined the US Navy the day after graduation, eager to serve his country. Butch was stationed on the USS Chandler at Nasni, CA where he was an Engineman 3, a third class petty officer status. Additionally, he was granted a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon before being honorably discharged in 1985.

One year after leaving the Navy, Butch met Shelly (Mondragon) Newhouse in Rock Springs, WY and the two married in the summer of 1987. They were together for over 20 years before going separate ways, always maintaining a close co-parenting relationship for their 3 children.

In the summer of 1988 Butch was hired on at FMC Corp where he fulfilled a fervent carreer of 33 years as a Miner Operator. Late in his career, he achieved the role of Jeep Driver in the Mine Services Group, his idea of a 'desk job'.

Adventuring with his dogs through the high desert plains surrounding Rock Springs was Butch's favorite pastime. He was passionate about his 'toys', as he so lovingly referred to them -- countless Harleys and various motorcycles delighted him through his life, a hobby he liked to share with his kids. He deeply enjoyed rebuilding vehicle motors and took pride in maintaining his multi-wheeled friends. Butch was a "sort-of"chef and often showed his love by cooking up food for his kids and friends, always adament that noone left without a full belly. If there was a rock concert nearby, you could bet on Butch to be there jamming out. Many afternoons you'd find him unwinding from the day, throwing back a couple cold ones in his garage and listening to his favorite tunes on Octane radio station. Butch got his nick name "The Bullshitter" because he loved to talk and joke always. He often called his parents and friends just to hear about their day. Loving to make people laugh and being quite the wordsmith, ever-inventive with his spelling for things and nicknames for people was a quirk he was well known for. He and his mom Juanita frequented Wendover as their mother-son getaways. His dad loved being his buddy, taking rides, eating meals together and sharing their military stories. It was clear he loved to have fun, but above all, Butch loved to be with his kids -- from teaching his 'Geek Child' to ride her motorcycles to listening to his 'Toots' rock out on guitar and never failing to have Sunday coffee dates with his baby, 'Coach'. Being the chatty guy he was, Butch just loved talking to anyone who would listen about his beautiful children and took great pride in not only their accomplishments, but the amazing people he helped them become.

Butch was the kind of man to give you the shirt off his back, even if you didn't ask for it. Without a doubt, if you asked him for help, he would never turn you away, only having a loving kindness for those in need.
