Rex Gary Bennett, 67, passed away suddenly on August 9, 2021 after a courageous battle against cancer.
Rex was born in Ames, Iowa on December 5, 1953 and after moving to Wyoming as a child, graduated from Rawlins High School. He retired after a long career with BP Amoco. Rex loved the outdoors and spent time touring the landscape of the Wind Rivers on his ATV, camping, fly fishing on Wyoming lakes, rivers and streams, and shooting. When Rex wasn’t adventuring outdoors, he enjoyed gunsmithing, riding his motorcycle and cruising the highway in his convertible.
Rex is survived by his loving wife, Rae Dawn, his three children, Stefanie M. Deters (Michael), Brandon R. Bennett (Daniela), and Derik C. Bennett, his sister Cheryl Bowen (Donald), his brother Jack Bennett (Mary), three step children, Monica Gibbs (Michael), Amanda Short, and Cynthia Short, and several nieces and nephews. He was a proud grandpa to three grandchildren, Caleb, Cate and Nicolas.
He is preceded in death by his parents and nephew Alan Bennett.
Rex will be honored by his close friends and family on Saturday, August 21st at the family home at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The American Cancer Society or The Humane Society of the U.S. on his behalf.
