Green River Police Department reports for July 13
At 9:16 p.m., officers responded to a report of suspicious individuals in a parking area on Bridger Drive. Officers met with the individuals and completed a report of the incident.
July 14
At 5:30 p.m., officers responded to Stratton Myers ballpark in reference to juveniles fighting. After speaking with all parents and juveniles involved, no parties wanted to press charges and stated it was just kids fighting. Officers completed a report of the incident.
July 15
At 9:36 a.m., officers were dispatched to an address on Homestead Drive for a report of a burglary. The reporting person reported the burglary of their residence by their ex-spouse. The reporting person believed that the ex-spouse entered the residence without their permission and removed items that belonged to their children. Officers issued the suspect a trespass warning, and completed a report of the incident to be forwarded to the Sweetwater County Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges.
At 12:18 p.m., officers were dispatched to McDonald’s for a report of a crash. While at the drive thru, a vehicle backed up and subsequently collided with the front of of another vehicle. Damages were noted, information was exchanged and no citations were issued. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 2:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to River View Drive in reference to a trespass violation. The reporting person reported that an individual who had a trespass warning issued to them for the residence had knocked on the front door. Officers were unable to locate or confirm a suspect. Officers completed an informational report.
At 4:33 p.m., officers were dispatched to East 3rd South Street for a report of a hit-and-run collision. The reporting person stated that while washing their car, they observed several scratch marks to the front bumper area. The vehicle had been involved in a hit-and-run crash at an unknown time in an unknown location. At this time, there are no leads to help identify a suspect vehicle and there is nothing to indicate when and where the incident took place. Officers completed a crash report.
At 9:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to Rocky Mountain Wash for a report of a traffic accident. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the incident was actually accidental damage to a vehicle and not a traffic crash. Officers made contact with both the owner of the damaged vehicle and the manager of the business. Officers completed an informational report.
July 16
At 7:26 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run collision at the Super 8 Motel. Officers met with the reporting party who advised they found a note on their windshield stating someone had observed their vehicle being hit by another vehicle. Officers observed the damage to the vehicle and attempted to make contact with the suspect described in the note. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of nuisance property on Single Tree Drive. The owner of the property, Maria Juancorena, 45, of Green River, was issued a citation for an alleged nuisance property violation.
At 10:55 p.m., officers responded to a report of property damage at Stratton Myers Park. Officers met with the reporting party who advised that their vehicle had been damaged while parked in the parking area. Officers observed a broken window on the vehicle and spoke with witnesses who observed the vehicle being damaged as a result of reckless driving. Officers attempted to locate the suspect and completed a report of the incident. This incident is still under investigation.
July 17
At 7:40 a.m., officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run collision on West 4th North Street. Officers met with the reporting party who advised they were informed by a neighbor of the crash. Officers observed significant damage to the vehicle and completed a report of the incident. No suspects have been identified at this time. This incident is still under investigation.
At 8:52 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic hazard due to materials falling off the vehicle on the Green River Overpass and issued the driver, Brandon Banister, 22, of Kemmerer, a citation for an alleged load on vehicles violation.
At 4:22 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run collision on Hitching Post Drive. Officers met with the reporting party who advised their vehicle had been hit and the driver’s side mirror had been knocked off the vehicle and was broken. Officers investigated the scene and took photos of the damage. Officers completed a report of the incident. No suspects have been identified at this time.
At 8:50 p.m., officers were informed of an individual who wanted a trespass warning issued for their property on West 2nd South Street. The individual was issued the trespass warning and officers completed a report of the incident.
At 10:29 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance at the Green River Recreation Center. The reporting party was a pilot who advised that their aircraft, as well as another in the area, had been struck by a laser. Officers were able to locate a suspect, who was a juvenile, and determined that it was not intentional. No law enforcement action was taken per the request of the reporting party. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 11:42 p.m., officers while on another call were in contact with an individual with an active warrant. Officers confirmed the warrant and placed Zachary Lathrop, 35, of Green River, under arrest through the active warrant. Officers transported Lathrop to the Sweetwater County Detention Center. The Green River Police Department did not release the address officers responded to.
July 18
At 6:49 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Cumorah Way on a vehicle for no visible registration. Officers issued the driver, Tawny Nelson, 34, of Green River, citations for alleged driving while license cancelled, suspended, or revoked; compulsory auto insurance; and valid certificate of title, certificate of registration, and license plates required. Officers completed a report of the incident.
At 3:36 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speed at the Green River Landfill and issued the driver, Jose Hernandez Cazares, 36, of Green River, citations for alleged no valid driver’s license and speed - generally.
At 5:08 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of North 4th West Street and West Flaming Gorge Way. Officers met with the drivers of both vehicles and observed damage to the vehicles. The driver of one vehicle advised she was pulled to the right hand side of the roadway and when she attempted to merge from the right hand side of the roadway into traffic, she struck another vehicle with the front driver’s side bumper and fender of her vehicle. The driver, Trisha Guymon, 39, of Laramie, was issued a citation for an alleged starting parked vehicle violation.
At 2:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a juvenile runaway. Officers met with the parents of the juvenile and attempted to locate the juvenile, 17. Officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.
At 9:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of a violation of a protection order on Bridger Drive. Officers met with the reporting party who advised they were approached by an individual who they had an active protection order against. Officers confirmed the active protection order and attempted to locate the suspect. Officers completed a report of the incident.
