Russel J. Anderson

Russel J. Anderson, 85, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County following a brief illness. He was a resident of Rock Springs for the last 64 years and former resident of Green River, Wyoming.

Mr. Anderson was born May 24, 1935 in Thermopolis, Wyoming; the son of William James Anderson and Nellie Russell.

He attended schools in Green River and was a 1953 graduate of Green River High School.

Mr. Anderson married Roberta Jean Rodda on November 19, 1955 in Rock Springs, Wyoming; she preceded him in death on September 20, 2013 in Rock Springs.

Russel worked for Anadarko for 40 years until his retirement in 2005 as an Operator.

He was an avid football fan who enjoyed crafts, woodworking and attending Monday night dinners at the Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include two sons, Bob Anderson and wife Diane of Rock Springs, Wyoming; Bill Anderson and wife Nancy of Rock Springs; one daughter, Joyce Hale and husband Kent of La Barge, Wyoming; one sister, Hilda Gordon of Lander, Wyoming; one brother-in-law, Douglas Rodda of Rock Springs; one sister-in-law, Janet Rodda of Oregon; seven grandchildren, Mark; Rodney; D.J .; Justin; Chris; Jason; Zach; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Janis Anderson; two sisters, Clarissa Grisham; and Bertha Anderson who died in infancy.

The family respectfully requests donations in Russel's memory be made to Young at Heart Senior Citizens Center, 2400 Reagan Avenue, Rock Springs, Wyoming 82901

Following Cremation, Private family services will be conducted.
