The Green River High School Girls Basketball Team are 3-0 in their conference after a win against Star Valley Saturday.
The Lady Wolves traveled to Afton for the game, which ended 36-30 in favor of Green River.
Head coach Rick Carroll said he was happy with how the Lady Wolves played defensively for the game, holding Star Valley to 30 points, but said the familiar problem with scoring baskets continued to hinder the Lady Wolves’ offense.
“We missed a lot of easy ones,” he said. “In general, we missed a lot of shots.”
Carroll said both teams played hard throughout the game, giving credit to the Lady Braves’ tenacity.
Carroll said the Lady Wolves were very successful in creating turnovers throughout the game, yet those did not translate to scoring plays.
Carroll said the team now has a range of scoring players, giving the Lady Wolves more opportunities as opposed to relying on one or two players to seek baskets.
Specifically, he was also pleased with Tayana Crowder, who had 13 rebounds during the game.
“I’m extremely happy about that,” Carroll said.
This week, the team is preparing for games against the Lady Tigers from Rock Springs Thursday and the Natrona County Saturday.
Beforehand, Carroll said he’s working with the girls to better their shooting percentages and their offense overall.
Both games will be played at home. The Rock Springs game starts at 5:30 p.m., while the Saturday Natrona game begins at 1 p.m.
