Petra Carranza Jorgenson

Former Green River resident, Petra Carranza Jorgenson, 75, of Tucson, AZ, was born in Leòn, Guanajuato, Mèxico on May 2nd, 1945 to Jesus and Maria Carranza.

Along with her parents, Petra and her five siblings came to this country in the early 1950's settling down around Helper, UT.  There, her Father worked for the railroad and she reminisced often of her fond memories of her youth.  She graduated from Carbon High School in Price, UT in 1965.

After graduation, Petra found her way to Tucson, where she found work and enjoyed living close to her siblings.  A few years had passed when she met the love of her life, Carl M. Jorgenson (Billy Joe) and they were married April 27, 1970.  The two enjoyed their time in Tucson, and in 1974, they welcomed their only child, Carl J. Jorgenson.

In the early 1980's, the family moved to Green River, Wyoming so Billy Joe could work in the Trona mines and Petra worked for the City of Green River then for Sweetwater County.  Petra created life-long friendships from those days and was proud of the work she accomplished.

After Carl graduated in 1993, Petra and Carl decided to give up the snow for the heat and headed back to Tucson.  There, she enjoyed being around her family, especially her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Petra always enjoyed a good family get-together and looked forward to the delicious sweets as well as the conversation.   She enjoyed telling stories of her younger years and you could expect to sit there for hours.  Her laugh was infections and her smile would light up a room!

Petra was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl; and her parents, Jesus and Maria Carranza.

Petra is survived by her son, Carl (Lindsay) Jorgenson; grandchildren, Colten Jorgenson and Avery Jorgenson; four sisters, Gloria Carranza, Alice Moore, Mary (Ralph) Thalman and Josephine Carranza (Ralph) and one brother Juan (Judy) Carranza; seven Nieces, five Nephews, three Great-Nieces and five Great-Nephews.

Cremation has taken place, and due to Covid restrictions, a small family ceremony will take place at a later time.
