The Wolves are working to hard prepare for the upcoming Flaming Gorge Classic, coming into the tournament after a 71-62 win against Cheyenne South Saturday.
Head coach Laurie Ivie liked what she was seeing from the Wolves during their home opener.
“The boys played very well in our home opener, she said. “We got up and down the court quickly, shared the ball well, found open shooters and had four players score in double digits.”
While she was happy with how the game went for the team, there are some improvements to be made as well. Ivie said the team has to improve in rebounding and boxing out, saying those areas are things the coaches emphasise during practice daily.
As the season starts up for the Wolves, Ivie said the team is excited about the season and are grateful for the opportunity to compete at all. Ivie said the Wolves want nothing more than to play a full season.
She said the team has adjusted well to playing and practices during the pandemic and the team’s members have done a great job in both holding themselves and other players accountable for their actions.
“Leaving the state tournament last year without ever playing a game was an awful experience for everyone.
The Wolves will take on Campbell County and Kelly Walsh at the tournament.
“These are two solid, very well-coached teams. We look forward to the opportunity to see how we match up with both of them,” Ivie said.
