17 go to State

Members of the Green River High School Girls Swimming and Diving team had their final chance to qualify for state Thursday evening during the last chance meet the team hosted.
Head coach Colleen Seiloff said no one qualified at the meet, which means 17 ladies will be sent to Laramie to compete at the State swim meet. She said a few of the girls were close to hitting their needed times, but were unable to break through those times. Seiloff said many swimmers qualified in multiple events, which she said gives her a chance to shift swimmers around to better position the team to score points. Also, the girls have a chance for a breather before the competition.
"We just started tapering this week," Seiloff said Friday.
Going into this week's competition, Seiloff believes the Lady Wolves will face stiff competition in the 3A conference.
She said Cody has had a great season this year and said teams from Buffalo and Powell host great swimmers. She also said Lander has been extremely competitive throughout the season.
"There are just great athletes throughout 3A," she said.
This is Green River's first year competing at 3A and Seiloff looks forward to the team facing a new group of teams. While she said they're looking at a high level of competition at state, Seiloff told her swimmers to stay calm and collected and be ready for next week.
"We're just going to go in there and be ready to put up a great fight," Seiloff said.
