Lady Wolves grow despite losses

The Lady Wolves Volleyball team took two more losses over the last week, but show signs of improvement according to head coach Rikki Shantz.

The Lady Wolves lost in three sets against Evanston Thursday night, struggling against the Lady Red Devils in a game that ended 25-11, 25-15 and 25-10. Their road trip to Jackson also ended in a loss, but the Lady Wolves were able to have a set win during the competition, taking the second set 25-21. However, Jackson's squad took the first set 25-16 and the third and fourth sets 25-17 and 25-20.

Shantz said the set win was a boost to the team's confidence during the Jackson game and said the girls' defense is beginning to tighten up after playing what she described as a "scrappy" defense in previous games. Shantz also said the team's use of passing is also improving.

"We've been on the upswing since our first match win (against Riverton)," Shantz said.

The Lady Wolves will face their rivals from Rock Springs this week, as well as Star Valley. Both games take place in Green River, with the Rock Springs game planned for Thursday at 6 p.m., while Star Valley's game is set for Saturday at 2 p.m.
