Local campaign funding reported

The dust has settled for the Primary Election in August and candidates have disclosed how much was contributed to their campaigns.

For candidates in Green River, the campaign costs have so far been less than $1,000, with all of the candidates self funding their election bids. Robert Berg, unopposed for reelection in Ward 1 has so far only contributed $25 to his campaign, which is the filing fee candidates are required to pay. In Ward 3, incumbent Tom Murphy reported contributing $209.24 towards his campaign while his challenger, Sherry Bushman, reported $782.05 in personal contributions to her election bid.

In the campaigns for the two Sweetwater County Commissioner positions, Republican Mary Thoman raised the most, reporting $6,138.03. Of that amount $2,723.03 was through personal contributions to her campaign, while $2,800 were from individual donors and $615 was listed as unitemized contributions. Amongst those donors include Barb Van Matre, a friend of Thoman’s, who contributed $1,500 to Thoman’s campaign.

Republican Mark Peterson reported $4,400 in personal contributions to his campaign, while Lauren Schoenfeld reported $3,533.80 in overall contributions. Schoenfeld reported contributing $2,300 in from individual contributions, which includes $500 from the Run Cowgirl Political Action Committee.

Incumbent Republican Wally Johnson disclosed receiving $1,050 in contributions. For that amount, $500 was from Johnson himself and $550 came from individual contributions.

For the Democrats in the seeking a seat on the Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners, Joe Barbuto reported $1,801.55 in contributions while Dave Gray reported $955.94. Of those amounts, Barbuto reported $332.55 in personal contributions and $1,469 from individual contributors, while Gray reported making $735.44 in personal contributions to his campaign and receiving $$220.50 from in-kind donations.

Those donations were listed as signs provided to his campaign.
