A gas leak caused by construction work on Knotty Pine Street Monday resulted in four homes being evacuated.
According to a media release from the city, clipped a 2-inch line and no injuries resulting from the leak were reported. The Green River Fire Department and workers from Dominion Energy responded to the leak. Residents evacuated from their homes have since been allowed to return.
Gas service on Reynolds Street was also impacted by the leak.
The work on Knotty Pine Street is a project funded through a specific purpose tax commonly known as the sixth-penny sales tax.
The tax was originally approved by voters in 2012 and included work on Knotty Pine as part of Green River’s streets package. The project started in the spring and cost $1.23 million.
