The Green River City Council approved the city’s annual budget last week, but not without budgeting for decreased revenues related to the coronavirus pandemic.
While the city funded all of its community service grants at 2019 levels and maintained employee salaries, the budget was based on $750,000 a month in revenue versus $850,000 in 2019. Overall, $5.4 million in cuts were made to the $16.9 million budget. Most of those cuts were in capital projects, which amounted to $4.2 million of the cut amount. The budget is balanced with a positive remaining balance of $52,836.
For salaries for officials, the mayor and members of the city council continue to be paid $1,500 and $1,000 a month respectively. The city administrator’s salary increased from $148,763 to $151,738. The municipal court judge’s salary also increased from $82,400 to $84,048, as did the city prosecutor’s salary, increasing from $70,400 a year to $71,441.
The city attorney’s salary remained at $78,000 a year.
Fees also increased in some areas. Animal shelter adoption fees for dogs and puppies increased by $10, resulting in a $40 fee for a dog and a $50 for a puppy. Kitten adoption fees also increased by $10 to $30.
Several differing birthday package fees were added to the city’s recreation schedule as well.
