3 businesses fail GRPD compliance checks

Recent alcohol and tobacco compliance checks conducted by the Green River Police Department last week didn’t show complete compliance.

Citations were issued to three businesses for failure to ensure tobacco or alcohol wasn’t being sold to underage customers. For tobacco, the Get N Go convenience store and the Vape Shop failed compliance checks, while Mansface Liquor failed an alcohol compliance check.

According to the GRPD, the tobacco checks were conducted June 8, with the alcohol checks taking place June 11. Both checks utilize underage volunteers with legal driver’s licenses who attempt to purchase items from shops throughout Green River. Of the businesses checked for tobacco compliance, six of the eight passed while nine of the 10 businesses checked for alcohol compliance passed.

Employees at the failing businesses were issued citations for alleged furnishing to minors, which is punishable by up to six months in jail and can carry a potential fine of up to $750. The employees succeeding in the checks were handed gift certificates from the Green River Chamber of Commerce.
