Residents are encouraged to help beautify the city during the annual City-Wide Cleanup Week starting Monday.
Residents can register and pick up supplies and choose an area to clean during this week at the Green River Visitor’s Center. Volunteers can also register through the Green River Chamber of Commerce’s website. The main areas volunteers will focus on are the city’s business corridors, as well as the areas around parks and schools within Green River. Throughout next week, dumpsters will be placed throughout the city to collect the trash volunteers pick up.
Shredding bins will also be available at the visitor’s center starting Monday. The bins are available on a first-come, first-served basis in case the bins fill up.
Gregg Vanderpool, a spokesperson for the Green River Chamber of Commerce, said the format is differing this year to accommodate for social distancing guidelines.
Originally, the event would take place on a Saturday with volunteers spread throughout the city. Now, they can sign up and clean up their area at the time most convenient to them throughout the week.
Vanderpool also said the sign-up period has had a great response, with six people registering Monday.
