Four Rock Springs residents have tested positive for COVID-19 infections, according to Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.
In a press release sent to local media Saturday, MHSC officials said contact tracing efforts are continuing for all four individuals. Three of the four are reported to be in good condition and isolating at home. The fourth individual, a man in his 70s, is reported to be in stable condition and also isolating at home. After the four cases announced Saturday, the total number of known infections in Sweetwater County rose to 22.
According to the release, 16 of the lab-confirmed cases in Sweetwater County have recovered.
Statewide, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections has increased to 700 as of Monday. On Monday, the 17th COVID-19 related death was reported after a Fremont County woman died from the illness. According to a Wyoming News Exchange article, The Wyoming Department of Health reported she had been hospitalized for treatment and did not have any known conditions that would have put her at a higher risk for complications.
The state is monitoring 228 active cases as of Monday, a number consisting of 174 laboratory-confirmed cases and 54 probable cases. In total, the state has recorded 210 probable cases of coronavirus infection, which are defined as someone who has had contact with someone who has tested positive for infection and shows symptoms of the illness. Nearly 25,000 coronavirus tests have been administered in Wyoming since the start of the pandemic, with a positive test rate of 2.8%, which is below the national rate of 12%.
The state has recorded 667 recoveries from the illness Monday, which consists of 511 laboratory-confirmed cases and 156 probable cases.
