Blake seeks re-election to HD 39

Stan Blake is seeking another term in the Wyoming Legislature. Blake, a Democrat, is announcing his bid for re-election to House District 39.

"I wish to say it has been a humbling experience, and an honor to represent the citizens of Green River, Rock Springs, Jamestown and other parts of Sweetwater County that are in House District 39," Blake said.

Blake is employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman. He is a member of the SMART-Union, Transportation Division Local No. 1857. Blake has also worked as a welder and ironworker. Blake has spent 63 years in Wyoming, the last 30 in Green River. Blake is also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 2350 of Green River.

The past 14 years Blake has served on the House Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Committee and the House Agriculture, State and Public Lands and Water Resources Committee.

In 2009 he was appointed to the Select Water Committee. In 2013 he was placed on the Select Federal Natural Resource Management Committee where he served for two years and was put back on Select Federal Natural Resource Management Committee in 2017. In 2015 he was placed on the Select Committee on Tribal Relations. In 2015 and 2016 he served as Co-chairman of that committee.

Serving on the Agriculture and the Select Water Committees Blake has seen firsthand the attempts to divert water from the Green River. "I will stay vigilant to prevent other attempts to divert our water."

Serving on the Agriculture Committee and the Select Federal Natural Resource Management Committee, Blake has seen the Federal government wanting to restrict even more access and use of our public lands. "I will work to keep OUR land open and available for OUR use. Historic use of our Federal Lands should not be changed. I believe that OUR Federal Lands should stay in control of the Federal Government with more input from State and Local entities on their control and administration. Keep Public Lands in Public Hands".

Serving on the Highways, Transportation and Military Affairs Committee he has seen our National Guard and Reserves become the best trained in the nation. Camp Guernsey is one of the premier training sites in the US. Blake said he will continue to support our troops and their families, as well as veterans in Wyoming, being an advocate for the skilled nursing facility for veterans in Buffalo.

"I will continue to support our public education system and our educators". Recent cuts to our Education system have not been based on data or even a scientific approach," Blake said. "The cuts were just numbers presented to each side of the Capitol to balance the budget without spending too much from the rainy day account. Thankfully the cuts were not as deep as they could have been. I will work to try and solve the dilemma facing our Education System."

Blake was also the prime sponsor of House Bill 39, Wildlife Conservation License Plates. This bill had wide support from many people and organizations across the state. The additional money raised from the purchase of these plates will help support wildlife conservation efforts related to the transportation system, including game fences and wildlife corridors and crossings, to help minimize collisions with wildlife. To date, 1,383 plates have been sold, raising more than $250,000.

Blake values integrity, common sense, transparency in government, and working across party lines to do what's right for Wyoming and Sweetwater County. He is a staunch supporter of Second Amendment rights, and individual privacy and freedoms.
