Graduation ceremonies for Green River High School and Expedition Academy have been finalized after the COVID-19 pandemic forced a cancellation of public gatherings.
Last week, Sweetwater County School District No. 2 announced graduation ceremonies would be streamed through YouTube and Facebook. Starting Tuesday and ending May 8, students and parents will attend individual live ceremonies with administrators from both schools to receive their diplomas, with photos taken for the video to be on May 18 for GRHS and May 19 for EA. Both videos will be uploaded at 7 p.m.
During the video presentations, remarks from Sen. John Barrasso will be paired with comments from students and administrators. At GRHS, a tribute to students joining the military will be included, along with a video titled “Memories of the Class of 2020” will be added to the virtual presentation.
On May 20, an all-senior rolling parade will be hosted for students, starting at Wild Horse Canyon Road and ending at Stratton Myers Park. The parade starts at 8 p.m.
Seniors are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and ride with their immediate family members.
“A traditional parade is not possible based on the size and scope of this event. This will be a “rolling parade” which will require vehicles to obey traffic laws along the route,” a press release from the district states.
