COVID-19 delays trial

COVID-19 isn’t just impacting spring and summer events throughout the Cowboy State, it’s hampering the state’s justice system as well.

The jury trial of Bradley Setzer, originally set to take place May 11 at 9 a.m., before Third Judicial District Court Judge Richard Lavery, was postponed to July 13 at 9 a.m.

A pretrial conference, originally scheduled for April 22, at 1:30 p.m. was rescheduled to June 15 at 1:30 p.m.

Setzer was originally arrested last August after he was alleged to have tried killing his wife. He allegedly shot at her through a decorative glass window in the front door of the couple’s Green River home.

A later search of Setzer’s home revealed he had 11 firearms at the property, which was a violation of a previous bond stipulation for a previous incident where Setzer is alleged to have physically attacked his wife.

He was later arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder and misdemeanor interference with a peace officer. His bond was set at $900,000 cash or surety.

He entered a not guilty plea during an arraignment before Lavery in November.
