Soccer coach steps down

After more than a decade coaching the Wolves soccer team, head coach Chris Bieber will step away from the role this season.

In an announcement from Tony Beardsley, the athletics director for Sweetwater County School District No. 2, Kahler Dawson, a physical education teacher, will become the new head coach, with Bieber serving as a volunteer assistant coach to help the team transition into new leadership.

“This was a difficult decision for coach Bieber and based mainly on a change with his work schedule that would limit his ability to put in the required time it takes to continue as the head coach,” the release states.

Bieber was been with the program for 13 years, working as a assistant coach for six years and head coach for the past seven years. During that time, Bieber has helped lead the team to 12 state tournament appearances, coached the team to a third-place finish at the 2018 State soccer tournament, and was named the 4A West Conference Coach of the year in 2014, 2016, and 2018.

He also lead the team to regular season and Regional titles and coached several All-Conference and All-State players, including 2018 Wyoming Gatorade Player of the Year, Patrick Marchal.

“Coach Bieber has been an outstanding coach and leader for our Green River High School Boys Soccer program. His leadership will be missed. I want to thank Chris for all of his contributions to our program,” Beardsley said in a press release.
