Wolves take 3rd at conference meet

Following a third-place conference showing, the Wolves swimming and diving team only have a last chance meet in Rock Springs before State.

Head coach Colleen Seiloff said she was pleased with how the boys performed, saying she expected them to place third. She said they group hung on during the meet and has several time drops.

Focusing on the last chance meet, Seiloff said she thinks the Wolves have a chance to qualify two or three more swimmers for State. Overall, 13 swimmers and divers have qualified, with Levi Westburg qualifying in the 200 and 500 freestyle events and Zeke Reading qualifying in the 100 breaststroke.

She said other swimmers added events they qualified in during the meet.

As far as the team’s health is concerned, the swimmers are overcoming illnesses they contracted earlier in the season. She believes the swimmers should be illness free by the time State begins.

“We’re keeping our fingers crossed and hope everyone will be healthy by State,” she said.

The boys’ last chance meet takes place in Rock Springs Thursday at 4 p.m.

The State swim meet takes place in Laramie next weekend.
