Children quickly learned at a recent event why dragons love tacos.
Those who attended the Dragons Love Tacos event at the Sweetwater County Library this weekend had numerous activities to participate in.
As soon as the librarians opened the doors, children, parents and grandparents entered the building ready for fun.
While at the Dragons Love Tacos event, which was inspired by the book "Dragons Love Tacos" by Adam Rubin, children had the chance to spin a wheel to see what prize they could win.
They also searched high and low to find all of the clues to solve the mystery message at the bottom of a paper. Once completed, the mystery word, jalapeño, was revealed. For those who read the book already, they knew how this mystery word would tie into the book because even though dragons love tacos, they do not love spicy foods.
Once they completed the puzzle, they visited the front desk to receive a prize, which consisted of a paper bag with a couple of pencils, an eraser and a couple other fun items in it.
Children then made their way to the taco-building station, where they would ask their parents or grandparents what they wanted to order off of the menu. The children then went to work creating the food, which was made out of felt. Some children wrapped up burritos, while others made tacos. They also made sure to fill up a cup with pretend lemonade, water or orange juice. The parents then pretended to eat and drink the items given to them.
In another corner of the library, children completed math problems using taco cutouts and played Jenga with empty pop boxes.
All of the children were then invited to the multi-purpose room to watch a video of the "Dragons Love Tacos" book. After the video was over, the children quickly moved to the tables to color and cut out dragon masks.
