The Wolves football team might have played better this week against Rawlins, but the Outlaws still pulled out a win, 18-7.
The Rawlins Outlaws received the ball first and quickly marched down the field 47 yards until senior Wolves Thomas Harvey and Tayler Jensen stopped the Rawlins on a fourth and one at Green River’s own 33-yard line.

Rawlins got the ball back; and the the first quarter ended with no score from either team.
During the beginning of the second quarter, Outlaw Kadin Forney fumbled the football, but he recovered it. The Outlaws field goal attempt was not good, and the score remained, 0-0.

Rawlins received a 15-yard penalty, while Green River was given a 10-yard penalty. Green River was then credited with a first down. Green River went for it on another fourth and three situation and didn’t get it. The ball went back to Rawlins.

The Wolves came out of the locker room fired up and in less than a minute, they got their first and only touchdown of the night with a pass to from Wrage to Ivie, who took it in 67 yards for a touchdown. The P.A.T. was good and the Wolves move ahead, 7-6.
The Green River defense then stepped up with a big sack from Harvey, which forced the Outlaws to punt. The ball went right back to the Outlaws, when Mendez picked off a throw from Wrage.
The Outlaws took advantage of the mistake; and a 51-yard throw from Romero to Kyson Robinson, put the Outlaws in good position. Mendez then caught a quick throw and they were back in the lead, however the Wolves blocked the P.A.T. and the Outlaws settled for 6, taking the score to 12-7.
During the fourth quarter, the Wolves still had the ball. After an incomplete pass from Wrage, he fumbled the ball, which was recovered by a Wolf, but then Wrage threw the ball and Mendez intercepted it.
With about 5 minutes left in the game, the Outlaws started to take their time to run the clock down. With about 2 minutes and 30 seconds left in the game, the Outlaws got another touchdown; and once again the P.A.T. was blocked, 18-7.
During the game, Jachob Fuss has several great throws throughout the game, but with about 1 minute 30 seconds left in the game he threw an interception. However, Fuss made sure to tackle the Outlaw who caught the ball.
During post game comments, head coach Marty Wrage said, “We are a young group. That’s not an excuse, but we’ve got to grow up fast,” he said.
“Every week we learn,” he said.
The upperclassmen were talking to the rest of the team and let them know what they need to work on this week to improve.
As for the two quarterback system, Wrage said he will continue to use Fuss and Wrage. He thinks they can use different formations with each one.
“We’ll just keep battling,” Wrage said.
The Wolves will play Torrington at home for their first home game, which is also the homecoming game.
