Wolves kick off season Friday

The Green River High School Wolves started their season Friday night with a non conference Jamboree scrimmage with Mountain View and Farson-Eden high schools.  The main varsity action, which involved running a set series of plays by both teams on offense and defense, saw Green River take on the visiting Buffaloes from Mountain View who came in ranked second in 2A and a very impressive ranking of sixth in the state overall.

The Buffaloes took command from the start, marching down the field seemingly at will scoring on both running and passing plays.  On defense, Mountain View was just as dominant, as they constantly got penetration into the Wolves backfield disrupting Green River's offense before it could get started and with a few exceptions, completely dominating the line of scrimmage and preventing Green River's offense from scoring.

Simultaneously, Green River took on Farson-Eden's defending State Champions in an unfamiliar game of six-man football. Farson-Eden showed why they are a dominant team at their level within the state as they also scored at will and for the most part stopped the Wolves on offense. The Wolves players had a fair degree of success in this wide-open style of offensive football as the scrimmage went on and they became more familiar with the different style of football.

The Wolves will regroup this week and prepare for an away non-conference game this Friday night against 1-0 Lander who defeated Pinedale this past week, 38-12.
