What the future holds

One of the most frequent questions we’ve been asked over the past month is what the future holds for us now that the Rock Springs Rocket-Miner is shifting to a twice a week publication schedule and will no longer print in Rock Springs.

For the past six years, this newspaper has been printed in Rock Springs through an agreement between us and the Rocket Miner, currently Adams Publishing Group. While the option to continue that relationship was available, with us also having our paper printed in Cheyenne and trucked over with the Rocket Miner for Wednesday distribution, we decided to go another route.

Starting with next week’s newspaper, The Green River Star will be published with Utah Media Group. This decision was the best option available to us and we’re looking forward to this partnership. Immediate changes readers will notice include the ability for us to have more color printing available in the newspaper. The paper will be slightly narrower than what we’ve previously printed on as the wide-format paper we’ve used has become an increasingly rare size. One other change is we no longer will be distributing our paper on Wednesdays. We will shift to a Thursday publication date, however we will still hand-deliver our papers through carriers in town.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve received a large number of subscription orders, both from new subscribers and those renewing their subscriptions. For readers either picking up a subscription for their first time, or the first time in a while, we look forward to providing the best newspaper available in Sweetwater County. The residents of Green River and Sweetwater County come first and we plan to continue providing coverage of local events and politics the area’s residents can rely on. For those who are continuing their subscription, we appreciate your support over the years and the trust you’ve placed with us.

Yes, readers will see some changes as a result of recent events, but our future looks very bright.
