Track team battles cold weather conditions at home

With wind chills in the low 20s to 30s to start the Green River twilight Track meet, five southwest Wyoming school’s competitors were dressed in hooded sweatshirts and wrapped in blankets for the chilly, mostly overcast, late afternoon meet.

Last Thursday and despite the cold, competitors gathered for one last opportunity for competition prior to the 4A West Regionals next week in Evanston.

According to head coach Dan Hansen, it was a nice opportunity “to be able to recognize our seniors and their hard work over the years.” Hansen felt that despite the weather, the twilight meet ran smoothly.

The cold and the wind definitely had a negative effect on a number of the events, but there were a number of athletes who performed close to or exceeded their seasons best.
