Lady Wolves lose 2 more before regional tourney

The Lady Wolves soccer team wrapped up the regular season with two more losses.

On Friday, the Lady Wolves took on Kelly Walsh and lost 6-2.

Head coach Tracy Wyant said the team played well together, but Kelly Walsh is a good, fast-paced team.

“We played good,” Wyant said. “Just not good enough on offense. They had shot opportunities.”

She said the Lady Wolves scored their only two goals in the first half of the game and seemed to fall apart during the second half.

The team didn’t have long to rest and the next morning at 8, they were playing Natrona County. Even though the game was a close one, 2-1, Wyant wasn’t happy with the outcome.

The Lady Wolves had 18 shots on goal, but they were only put one into the net. Meanwhile, Natrona County had two break aways and made both goals.

“Clearly in my mind we were the better team,” Wyant said.

For some reason or another, the Lady Wolves aren’t getting the ball into the goal. Sometimes they hold the ball too long when they should shoot it. Other times, it’s the opposite, and the Lady Wolves are going for the shot too soon.

“We’ve got to figure it out,” Wyant said.

She said the Lady Wolves must maintain their composure especially in front of the net.

Wyant said Karlee Bode, the team’s goalie, had some amazing saves in the game.

With the regular season over, the team will prepare for regionals, which will take place in Casper. The team is scheduled to play Jackson at noon on Thursday.

“They’re beatable if we show up to play,” Wyant said. “We can get it done. We are on an even playing field with them.”

Wyant said the team’s record isn’t really reflective of how they have been playing.

“We have a really good team,” Wyant said. “It’s just not showing.”

Wyant said the team will have to win this next game or their season is done.

“It’s a must for us,” she said.
