Lady Wolves lose 2, beat Star Valley Tues.

The Lady Wolves continue to learn from their mistakes when they lost two more games this week, but earned a 5-1 win over Star Valley Tuesday.

On Thursday, the Lady Wolves played Star Valley and lost a close and tough game, 2-1.

“Star Valley was one of these games where we completely dominated,” head coach Tracy Wyant said. “We were in front of the net the majority of the time.”

Yet, the Lady Wolves lost.

“It was frustrating,” Wyant said. “It just wasn’t our day.”

She said the Lady Wolves played strong defense only allowing Star Valley to cross midfield a handful of times. Unfortunately, when Star Valley did cross they were successful in their shots on the goal.

Meanwhile, the Lady Wolves put 20 shots on the Star Valley goalie and only got one in when Ellie Kettering put in a successful shot.

On Saturday the Lady Wolves played Jackson and also lost that game, 3-1. Wyant said the huge fluctuation in temperature didn’t help the Lady Wolves.

“My girls hate the heat,” Wyant said.

She said they were missing goals and even though their defense was strong again, if the team can’t score, they aren’t going to win.

The lone goal came from Carly Kettering from a 20-yard shot.

“We need to take those opportunities whether they are perfect or not,” she said.

Wyant said they need to take longer shots when they can’t get close to the goal.

During this game, the Lady Wolves would have good moments and played really good soccer.

“We just had a hard time putting everything together all at once,” Wyant said.

With the losses behind them, the Lady Wolves are going to focus on playing this week’s games. The Lady Wolves played their last home game Tuesday against Star Valley.

The Lady Wolves will play Rock Springs in Rock Springs at 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Evanston in Evanston on Friday at 3 p.m.

To prepare for these games, the Lady Wolves will work on taking shots when they normally don’t and communication.

“We need to work on penetrating and taking those half-chance shots,” Wyant said. “We’ve got to take some risks on the offensive side and put everything together.”
