Robert Stephen (Steve) Morris, 65, died April 9, 2019 at his home in Mesa, Ariz., from complications related to diabetes.
Steve was born in Sheridan Jan. 9, 1954, the son of Marion (Ray) Morris and Nina Elizabeth (Sobotka) Morris. He was the third of four children. Soon after his birth, the family moved to Beach, N.D. The family lived in a number of places, including North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska and Texas. The family moved to Green River in 1959.
Steve attended school in Green River, graduating with the class of 1972.
After graduation, he worked at a variety of jobs, including the first mine at the Jim Bridger Power Plant, before going to work for William H. Smith Surveying.
That was the beginning of his lifelong career in surveying. He moved to Arizona in the early 1980s, surveying for the city of Mesa, Ariz., before retiring early due to his health in September of 2013.
Steve enjoyed woodworking. He built many pieces of furniture for his home, but his passion was clocks.
Steve is survived by his mother, Nina Morris, of Mesa, Ariz.; one older sister, Connie Thompson, of Sheridan; one younger brother, Joe Morris and wife Jean Ann of Phoenix; sister-in-law Gayle Schmidt-Morris of Salt Lake City; five nephews; two nieces; and his beloved cat, Vodka.
He was preceded in death by his father Roy Morris and one older brother, Jon Morris.
Services are pending in Mesa, Ariz., and Sheridan, which will be his final resting place. Angels Cremation and Burial LLC., are in charge of the arrangements.
