Herbert Lee Mount, 75, passed away peacefully March 14, 2019, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, with his wife and daughter by his side. A resident of Green River since 2006, he lost a hard fought, two-year battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born Dec. 29, 1943, in Selma, Ala., the son of Hurschel Mount and Ellen Brown Mount. He grew up in Montgomery, Ala., and Mobile, Ala. He earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Alabama.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from 1966 to 1970.
Lee was married to Ginette M. Otava for 19 years and had three children. He married Katherine Misa Kitagawa in 1991.
For the majority of his career, Lee was employed in industrial relations and human resources management. He was most proud of his work as a labor contracts negotiator and of the many strong working relationships he developed with union leaders and company officials all across the country.
Lee retired from Sweetwater County Dec. 31, 2012.
In April 2014, he embarked on building a two-story addition which more than doubled the square footage of the 100-year-old home he and Kathy own. His other pastimes included fishing, reading, doting on his cats, cooking, landscaping, vegetable gardening and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Katherine Mount of Green River; sister, Rita Warwick and husband John of Stone Mountain, Ga .; daughter, Annabelle Wall and husband Jeff of Wautoma, Wisc .; sons Jay Mount of Beaumont, Texas and Joseph and wife Sarahjoy of Ferris, Texas; and 12 grandchildren.
