GR residents make lucky bracelets

Making St. Patrick's Day bracelets was as activity residents and volunteers alike seemed to enjoy.

On Friday residents at the Mission at Castle Rock Rehabilitation Center and the Villa gathered to make St. Patrick's Day bracelets.

Kathy Elliott, who runs the Crafts with Kathy class, said she inherited most of the beads for the project from Jeanette Palmer, who used to volunteer at the CRRC. Each resident was given 50 beads, which were white, yellow, silver, clear and two colors of green. To make the project extra special Elliott ordered four-leaf clovers from the internet. Residents were allowed to use as little or as many four-leaf clovers as possible. The silver clovers were of various shapes and sizes and those in attendance agreed they added something special to the bracelets.

While the residents were making bracelets, they appreciated the company from a couple of special guests. Kia Comstock from the Rock Springs High School Health Academy was on hand to help residents put the beads on their sting. Once she helped one resident finish, she went on to another one to see what they needed.

Lincoln Middle School student Jordann Polling was helping Betty Watts make her beaded bracelet. Watts told Polling how much she appreciated all of her help because she was having problems putting the beads on the string. Polling was welcomed by all patrons immediately when she entered the room.

Elliott said every time the school has off, Polling comes to the center to help with various projects. Since, Green River didn't have school on Friday, Polling was at the center ready to help.

"We just love to have her," Elliott said. "She just jumps right in."

As the residents wrapped up the project, Elliott told them about upcoming projects.
