Donald Sheets passed away March 7, 2019.
He was born on Dec. 21, 1953, at the Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, Calif., to William and Carlene Sheets. He moved all over the country while his dad was in the Navy.
He married Sherri Lee Glover Jan. 5, 1973, in Carson City, Nev., with a permission slip in hand from his mom. They made their home in Green River for 33 years where they raised their children, Kristi and Rodger. While they lived in Green River, Don was very active in the baseball community. He played fast pitch softball for the Coors team out of Rock Springs for many years. After retiring from playing, he coached, umpired and served on the board. Baseball was his passion. His enthusiasm for baseball carried on in his own children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren’s lives.
He visited as many baseball stadiums while he could Donnie was also very active in the community. For several years, he and Sherri led the youth at Hilltop Baptist Church. He was also a deacon at the church. He served as a union steward for Allied Chemical and he was on the board for Wyochem Credit Union. He was also on the board for Sweetwater County School District No. 2 in Green River. He wanted the best for the children in the town and gave his all to make it happen. There was not a person around that didn’t benefit from his efforts.
In 2006, he and Sherri moved to Mississippi for work after he retired from General Chemical. Then later moved onto Houston, Texas. He was active in his church community at Humble Area First Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, watching the grandkids play their sports, and spending all the time he could with his family. His laughter and smile was contagious. He was a fun person to be around every day of his life.

Chase Halford; granddaughter Dakota Halford; brothers Chuck (June) Sheets and Bobby (Shari) Sheets; sister LaNette (Dave) Glover; in-laws Letha Glover, Dennis (Becky) Glover, Mona Cherry and Michael (Carol) Glover; and several nieces and nephews and extended family.
